The Walking Dead; 7.04 "Service" (open spoilers)

Why Negan isn’t fragged by his own men is beyond me. The Governor’s people loved him and would do anything for him. NO ONE likes Negan, not even his closest toadies.
In the real world, someone would always be plotting to take his place. He isn’t even armed! That bat is a symbol of power, not a weapon.

We don’t know that, we only know about Dwight and his situation is not standard. The rest of his goons might be perfectly happy about the arrangement, we know he gives preferential treatment to those who work for him instead of for “points”.

I don’t care why nagen is an asshole, but he is.
This would have been a chance for my opinion of Carl to go up a few notches if he would have blown away the asshole. I would have welcomed anybody who would have shut up his big, stupid mouth.
After all this group has been through, they put up with this idiot. It’s time to look at the writing staff and make some changes.

So they can lie to Negan and hide Maggie, but can’t hide some guns? What was even the point to lying about Maggie? Now they’ve got to hide her forever. And why would they have a written inventory of the number of guns they should have, let alone leave it laying around for Negans people to find? I sometimes think the Zpmbie virus makes people stupid.

Well, it does. I mean, the Walkers aren’t exactly MENSA candidates, are they?

Perhaps they wanted Negan to think that was all the weapons they have, and others are hidden in Maggie’s coffin.
Rick doesn’t seem to be faking it, though.

If this happens again, the strategy is obvious. Everybody in Alexandria gets a knife. When Negan and his crew shows up and his goons mingle among the Alexandrians, the Alexandrians should spread out and make sure all the goons are accompanied. Then at the sound of the gunshot (i.e. the one person with a hidden gun kills Negan), every Alexandrian immediately stabs the nearest goon. Within seconds, the intruder force can be vastly reduced, hopefully slaughtered entirely in under a minute.

They will need a lot of discipline and drill to get it right. Nervous nellies like Eugene should stay out of it entirely - it’d be too easy for him to ruin it.

Then, we have the black woman with scoped rifle and she aims at the walkers chest. Doesn’t she know that she needs a head shot to kill them ?
She misses a number of times. Either the rifle needs to be sighted in or it was loaded with blanks. If it was, who loaded it and why didn’t she check on what was wrong ?
If you don’t have the balls to stand up to nagen, go away.
Refresh my memory, why do they kiss nagen’s ass ? they have done a lot of stupid things on this show, but this is the dumbest thing yet.

Rick says, “You were practicing.” Perhaps she was using the zombie as a target and not doing very well. The goons would swarm her before she could hit Negan.

There wouldn’t be any point sniping Negan while he was at Alexandria unless the townspeople were ready and able to take out the goons within seconds. If she was thinking about taking out Negan somewhere else, possibly at his own base, she’d have to use stealth and distance, which means wearing camouflage, in a prone position, using the rifle’s bipod from at least 300 yards away (500 would be better) and with a getaway vehicle close at hand and an escape route that doesn’t suggest she’s heading back to Alexandria (and of course, she better make damn sure she isn’t caught or even recognized).

Her firing the rifle in the standing position is a waste of time and ammo.

It isn’t.

Rick won’t fight back because he’s been whipped.

Zombie bombs.

I’d have IEDs lining every approach to ASZ, for as long a distance as I could muster. When the Saviours show up at the gate(s), detonate the IEDs there. When they try to retreat, detonate the farther IEDs in succession.

The crosshairs were right on the zombie and she missed several times. You didn’t even see if the shots were close.
I don’t know where the hell the deer was. What was the deer doing that close (?) to the zombies. She killed the deer with one shot, by luck, I guess.
Another indication of the top-notch writing on this show.

Given that the whole WD story is essentially a metaphor for societal/political relationships, Negan’s goons could represent all kinds of segments of society for whom “good enough is good enough.” Zombies themselves personify slaves and their second class human status, Walking slowly as though encumbered by chains. Negan is just another happy go lucky psychopathic bully, like a few I have known personally, who believes he is justified and fair in his actions. I understand from what I’ve heard about the comics that he used to be a Social Studies teacher or something. Phys Ed teacher might be more apt, like what Biff Tannen-Trump was in Freaks and Geeks.

Symbolism, man! Like, totally – if you insist on doing something dangerous that you’re not very good at, it’s going to get some doe-eyed innocent bystander killed.

According to the Walking Dead wiki, Negan was a high school gym teacher.

Just like Biff Tannen/Trump then. Cool!

You got to sight in your scope on a stationary target. Bullet drop and distance come later.
:dubious:

 At least climate change isn’t going to be a problem in the zombie apocalypse. Granted the abandoned nuclear plants can’t be good for the environment, but that’s another issue.

I think this is the first time I’ve ever actually been pleased with Father Gabriel. Also when did Alexandria get a proper chapel, complete with stained glass window & pews? Wasn’t he preaching to people in his garage before?

Agreed. Why did this need to be 90 minutes? :dubious:

I imagine that they SCRAMED (shut themselves down) when something went wrong.
