The Walking Dead; 7.16 "The First Day of the Rest of Your Life" (open spoilers)

exterminate?

The non-reality scenes were excruciating.

That was so much fun to watch! The tension leading up to the battle was great - I suspected the Scavengers would pull a double cross; never trusted them at all. Seeing Shiva rip a Savior to shreds was so worth the wait!

So, the communities are united (wonder what happened to Gregory?) and it looks like next season is ALL OUT WAR.

Gregory left last episode to snitch on Maggie so the Saviors would take care of his problem.

When Negan had Rick and Carl on their knees in front of him, and they heard that scream/cry, my initial thought was that, rather than Carl, Negan had someone grab Judith.

I did enjoy Simon giving them the finger as they drove off, though.

The finger was nice; it would have been even better if someone managed to blow his hand off in response!

I enjoyed this episode but I will say the “Rick has lost” part went on a tad too long and there was at least one or two Sasha’s Fantasy World scenes too many.

The Tiger Rescue was awesome. It reminded me of the scene in Game of Thrones where the Wolf saves Bran which is a good thing.

I didn’t expect the Trash People to turn on them. It did take some dramatic license that Lady Trash didn’t just shoot Rick in the head (unless Negan made her swear to keep him alive as that is a Negan type thing to do).

I also think they missed an opportunity to CGI up the last scene of Negan talking to his followers at the end to make the crowd look huge. That would have really sold how over matched the heroes are in numbers.

Oh I forgot about that. Man I laughed at that too.

That was fun. Lots of twists and turns. Lions, and Sasha, and bullets. Oh My!

Hilltop knows Gregory is missing, and probably know where he went a-calling. The Alexandrians had no idea this had occurred, but it did serve to mobilize the Kingdom and Hilltop. The King is getting Rick’s band back together.

The TrashPeople hadn’t been tested in any kind of a stressful situation, but they were all that was available. Unfortunately. They have no loyalty to anyone outside of their collective. I like them less than I like the Negan character, and I don’t like the Negan character.

There are a few nitpicks, though. Dwight has to be the most successful salesperson EVER. There were no reasons to believe Dwight was anything other than a Negan stooge. Dwight says I want to kill Negan, I’ll help block the roads (if you give me a vehicle, a chainsaw, a few potential victims/captives, and let me go). Plus my ex-wife saved Daryl’s life. To which the Alexandrians respond with a nod of their drain-bramaged grey matter and say gosh Dwight, of course we believe and trust you. Here’s the keys to the truck. Drive carefully. :smack:

Negan seemed genuinely surprised to see Maggie, so it looks like Gregory didn’t make it in time (assuming that’s where he was headed). I wonder what this means for him – he no longer has any knowledge that would be valuable to Negan (Maggie’s still alive, Daryl’s still alive), so it’s unclear what use he will be. Negan could try sending him back to Hilltop as a spy, but it doesn’t seem like he’d be welcome there with open arms.

Also curious about Eugene – was his refusal to tell Negan about the poison he gave to Sasha an indication that he’s no longer “Negan,” or is he just scared of Negan getting mad at him?

You don’t have to be a good salesman when you have literally the only option. Negan was on his way already, Dwight’s plan was the only plan. Did i misunderstand or did Negan promise Jadis slaves? (“people are a resource, I’ll give you 10”).

My mind went to “dinner” rather than “slaves.”

I’m betting that Gregory is gonna get snuffed, pretty soon.

And I’m wondering the same as you are about Eugene…

Dwight’s plan? A Negan stooge appears out of nowhere and convinces the Alexandrians to accept his advice? Seriously? What’s wrong with leaving Dwight locked up in Morgan’s cell until they can verify Dwight’s story, or decide what to do with him? Anyone can cut down a tree in order to block a road.

Letting Dwight get any kind of look around the inside of Alexandria’s defenses, or letting him take a headcount of defenders is a really bad (aka stupid) idea.

I voted I liked it. But most of the like was from the early parts of the episode. When the gunfire started, it got all filler-y again, lots of bullets, not much movement.

I did like the trash people double cross. Didn’t see that coming.

Did like what Sasha did, though it would have been better as more of a surprise.

But for a bunch of people that can headshot zombies with pistols while running across broken terrain, they sure as heck can’t hit a living target with a full clip.

And I totally though Negan should have bounced Lucille off of Eugene’s skull. No way Negan didn’t take her nearly eating his face personally, and no way he didn’t know Eugene was responsible.

I have a lot more annoyed moments with this show than happy ones (for seasons now…yet I still watch), but they definitely got a chuckle from me with the moving van that had “Trust a Move” on the side. I wonder if Young MC is a TWD fan?

I’m sad to see Sasha go. At this point, the characters I like are getting thin on the ground.

Last night’s episode was g-r-r-r-reat!

Yeah Trust a Move almost seemed like a Simpsons joke.

Loved this episode. Favorite moments being the Kingdom’s entrance and Eugene deadpanning “I’m Negan”, so intense. It was a bit silly though that everyone in Alexandria managed to 180 spin-move the garbage person aiming a gun at their back due to Sasha’s distraction.

Next season should be what I wanted this season to be, the gang united against the Saviors. They might have to take a detour and take care of Jadis but I wouldn’t mind seeing the trash people get taken out.

I was thinking of a scene where they are being transported in their garbage trucks, and Daryl reaches over and starts the compactor.
“Let me offer you a better deal.”
