The Walking Dead; 8.06 "The King, the Widow, and Rick" (open spoilers)

Kevin Smith is on Talking Dead.

Does he say anything?

Holy shit Rosita

I love how they found a baby and just went “yoinks, this baby is ours now” and nobody even bats an eye. If someone took Ricks baby that would be the entire plot for the season.

Rick killed its dad presumably. Baby Gracie is lucky she was saved. But, seriously does Maggie need a baby right now. Enid needs to step up them babysitting skills.

A solid episode which served its purpose to keep the plot plodding along. Main bitch: Rick does another stupid thing…

It’s really annoying me that Maggie doesn’t look pregnant. Wasn’t she pregnant before they got to Alexandria? Well, at least a while before Glenn died and that’s got to be months ago by now.

IKR, I think I got fat they day after I found out I was pregnant.

I’ll call this one “OK”, and better than last week, which was the best one so far. But you’re right… How can the writers have Rick be so fucking stupid??? In fact, the various vigilante teams are once again making the stupid, stupid mistake of “I can go off alone and take care of this”. The RPG or bazooka launch (or whatever) by Rosita was nice! I’m not sure why they had Michonne do something so uncharacteristically stupid as to kick a tennis ball when trying to stay hidden. Again, sloppy writing.

Where were the helicopters? I was told there would be helicopters.

Famous last words: ‘You’re not going to use it.’

Meh… just stupid.

Why did Rick do what he did? There was only two outcomes - they agree or they take him captive and/or kill him. Okay, fine you go there because the script needs to add another bit of drama but c’mon now… worst negotiation ever and you DO talk to much.
Why did Rosario and Michonne leave? She had to “see it”? What the Hell for? Gobbly-gook-I-started-this-guilt-nonesense?
Lucky break that Darryl just happened to be passing by with a trash truck at that precise moment?
Why is gay-guy and pouty-face leaving Hilltop and to do what to end this?
Why does there really feel like there is no plan at all here other than individual or small groups of characters having little side stories to pad out the season?
Why, why, why for anything that happened? There was almost no reasoning behind any of it.

“That’s not how that works. That’s not how any of this works!” - Me, after watching this week.

I didn’t make it through Talking Dead, but only because I was tired as shit and had to go to bed. But it was OK this time!

For anyone who didn’t see it (and this isn’t any kind of spoiler), the boy who is playing Carol’s new side-kick is the IRL brother of the girl who played Sophia. Nice little family touch there!

I read that a season or two ago when they were having a lot The Kingdom episodes. I think it was on one of the ‘Inside The Walking Dead’ segments on The Talking Dead.

I wonder how the crossover with Fear the Walking Dead is actually going to fit in with the timeline.

So after Morgan & his son encounter they’re ( or just Morgan if the son’s already dead) going to head out west, then Morgan’s going to come all the way back to Georgia.

From the point of view of the audience, it’s what, a year and a half since we’ve seen Michonne do anything badass?

So it may not have been sloppy writing. The production team may be preparing the audience not to care when the character is killed off. This season, the character has been entirely dull; that’s a good way to turn ‘fan favorite’ into ‘meh, guess that character has run his-or-her course.’

It was clear that Michonne was still hurting from her injuries. And if that was too difficult for anyone to remember, Rosita mentioned it when she decided to tag along. They had a conversation about it. It’s hardly “sloppy writing” if you telegraph that someone is in bad shape and then they’re not perfect badasses 5 minutes later.

Wtf was with the naked sculpture session with the garbage people?

This was the worst part of the episode. I wasn’t watching as closely as I should have been, but did they show Darryl getting into a garbage truck at any point? How did he know they were there?

I’m not even sure what we were supposed to think about that incident. Did they, literally, just hit each other by accident? Was Daryl watching the whole thing (somehow) and then deliberately slammed the garbage truck into the “fat lady” truck? How did this even come about?

Or, were we supposed to just enjoy the crash and not ask any questions?
