If there is an actual 3 year contract that doesn’t have a clause allowing them to break it for artistic reosons or something, then Dad has a point. If not, he doesn’t. Pretty simple.
The more complicated case is if the contract DOES have clauses that let the studio weasel out, but that Chandler might have been given assurance by someone that he didn’t have to worry about those clauses because his character was going to be around for a long time. Or maybe he just assumed it would be because he didn’t die in the comics.
An actor leaving a top show for whatever reasons, college, or working with the poor, or you-name-it, always smells to me like a politician quitting to ‘spend more time with his family.’
I think he WAS fired. I have heard everyone who works on that show loves it, inordinately, a big happy family. Now the truth might be coming out…Of course a couple fortunates have left to go on to high-profile things. Most continue working but will never do anything better… the people who hang on for years will probably always be typecast.
