The Walking Dead; 8.08 "How It's Gotta Be" (open spoilers)

According my son the Whisperers skin the zombies and wear the skin. It is a way to walk among the zombies at will. And they bite and eat human flesh.
It seems to me that the Alexandrites should know the get ‘gunked up with guts routine.’
Then there is Gabriel, i think the illness is a clue as what to what will happen to Carl. I am just guessing, so no spoiler here.

So Carl was bitten by a whisperer and it was shown as a zombie bite to get the fans riled up and increase viewership. :dubious:

Which one?

Have they shown anything on the TV show that hints at the Whisperers? If so, can you point them out?

I joined “Walking Dead Spoilers” that specializes in “rumor with it’s fiery tongue” and compares the TV show to the comics. I haven’t read the comics, so I have no idea if there is any foreshadowing of the whisperers, unless Carl survives the bite.

I thought we didn’t discuss comic book spoilers in these threads? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I don’t recall that. My apologies, despite the fact that I’ve not read the comics.

It sounded as if there were clues in the TV show pointing to the Whisperers. ‘Easter eggs’, as it were.

Check out the Facebook page, Johnny.

Can’t see any posts without joining.

Me too, Johnny. They can’t force me to join.
So sorry if I spoiled anything on the show.
I don’t read the comics or Facebook or any forums. My son is informed in those ways, but he is careful to not give anything away to me. So what I know is not particularly informative, I don’t think.

Remember when Rick and the garbage people came across that lookout hanging upside down? In the comics that was how Father Gabriel dies and the Whisperer’s are involved. I’ve even seen speculation that the “walkers” that Rick killed there were acting different, I.E. they may have been Whisperer’s.vThats just speculation but it opens up a possible way that Carl doesn’t have to die.

That’s what I’m thinking/hoping anyway

My daughter showed me a picture of Chandler Riggs, she found online with a new short haircut.

Well, if they’re going to introduce the Whisperers, they’d better do it soon—before the show gets cancelled.

Aacckkk! Don’t say that!

Why would it get cancelled? It’s basically all that AMC has. (though that upcoming show about finding the NorthWest passage looks kind of interesting).

Far from all that AMC has. Both Preacher and Better Call Saul skate circles around the Waking Dead, story wise. TWD is no Breaking Bad even if they come from the same network.

I agree on quality for the shows I’ve seen (excludes Preacher), but TWD had 7.88 million viewers for the latest episode while Better Call Saul had 1.85 million viewers for their season finale in June. I’m sure TWD costs much more to make, but that’s a substantial difference in ratings.

However, it is probably a sign that TWD’s audience got so much smaller over the season (the premier had over 11 million viewers).

You can’t go by the number of viewers when it comes to assessing quality. The Big Bang Theory got lots of viewers but I could never get into the kind of obvious broad comedy they did. The Leftovers had a small viewership, leading to getting snubbed at awards ceremonies, but it was the best show on TV last year. Numbers of eyeballs is a poor indicator of quality.

Well, producers care how the viewership is. And the suits in the corner office have cancelled lots of good shows because of low numbers. So it does matter. TWD has a big share of viewers on Sunday night.
