Agreed, more stupid things done for no reasonable justification. An ongoing problem with this series.
A smaller issue, but one that has annoyed me as far back as I can remember, seems to have intensified of late. Why are so many conversations conducted in whispers? OK, fine when you don’t want to wake the sleeping child in the other room. But normal people have normal conversations in normal tones. Not our protagonists! Annoys the hell out of me and just takes me further out of the action and plot. Anybody else notice this or just me?
Nicotero announced it on Talking Dead awhile ago. Sorry no links. Maybe I misheard, but I don’t think so. Morgan and the box thing is a side hustle, and furthermore the truck blew up. No boxes.
I think either you misheard, or it was during the season and Nicotero was playing up the characters’ misdirect of “Let’s go to Virginia!”
Remember at the end of the finale, when they found the factory that supplied the original truck guy? They don’t need his truck, because they found the source of the supplies. The final scene was them sending out a caravan to distribute those newly-found supplies.
The pit thing with the zombies falling into it was a cool idea, and visually interesting. It would have made a great webisode or maybe one of those red machete vignettes. But it felt super contrived the way they introduced it. Are there countless giant holes all over that road, or was it a “struck by lightning” miracle that Rick just happened to get Daryl to stop the motorcycle right next to it?
I thought for a minute they had dug it just to keep Rick away til they killed Negan. And Daryl fell in accidently. But I guess they expect you to believe it just happened to be there. I guess it could’ve been.
Regarding Rick and Darryl in the hole - it would have made much more sense, and be safer, if they would have let the walkers tumble down, ice-pick them (so to speak) as they arrive, then build a walker scaffold to climb up and out when there are enough to stack up.
mmm
I thought for sure they were going to do that, at least it seemed like a little bit smart of a plan. But nope, instead, let’s hang from roots hoping we don’t fall into the pit of the dead.
There was one scene where Daryl did stack a body or 3 up to reach a root. And then the big scene when Rick called him ‘brother’, so sweet, wrong time for a sentimental exchange, clearly.
Getting the beer and the chips ready for tonight’s Rick finale. Any thoughts on how he will die?
Bitten by walkers as set up by last week’s episode.
Survives the horde, but dies of internal injuries.
Doesn’t die but is tired of all of the fighting and goes into a self-imposed exile and/or is forced into exile by Maggie.
Something else.
I hope not, but I pick #3. I think that they do not kill Rick.
ETA:
Rick makes it back to Alexandria and is executed by Maggie. This causes Maggie’s disappearance later in the season. (Probably not going to happen, but would be a ballsy move by the writers).
