The Warning I got in the Bond thread.

What in the wide, wide world of sports is a-goin’ on here?

-Golf clap-

Sorry, Sir. We just sorta got caught up.

Look, Betty, don’t you start up with your white screen shit again.

I think half our Mods should switch over and be Rockers. I’d love to get a Rocker Warning.

I don’t care for ATMB threads discussing moderation getting bumped time & again, especially for, forgive me, such painfully unfunny replies. I feel compelled to read them since they inform us on moderation decisions, trends and …I guess precedent is the closest word. These warning protest threads are closed pretty quickly when the moderation decision is less popular, right?

Just saying.

I really do feel that I should point out that this thread is getting rather silly. I’m still not clear on the red onion on a cheeseburger thing. Is it OK to put red onions on a burger iff there is tomato and lettuce (that being kind of salad), or under no circumstances are red onions to be used for condiment-y purposes? Where do shallots and chives fall under this scheme?

To the point, jnglmassiv, it’s obvious that ace didn’t follow mod instructions and it was very clear to most readers. You now are completely aware of the results so why reply ?

I generally try to keep threads open as much as possible in ATMB. Threads are only closed when they become problematic or if they start circling around and re-hashing the same things over and over again with no hope of a resolution.

With all of the serious issues we have dealt with in here lately, if some folks want a bit of lighthearted Airplane humor, I don’t have a problem with it.

Anything of importance is usually on the first page, anyway.

I’ve noticed this admonition a few times with recent warnings. Is this this de rigueur, now?

No. I’m not sure why you think something you’ve seen “a few times” is now de rigueur.

Why pretend, we both know perfectly well what this is about. You want this thread aborted.

I’ll take your word for it.

If it continues, it would seem that it would then be customary.

Thanks for the reply. I disagree with it but I appreciate that you responded. There’s an active Airplane thread in CS right now for this sort of stuff but ok.

It’s not that I’m replying, it’s that I’m compelled to return to a thread to read new posts to see whether there’s been any news from a staff member. It happens pretty often, a warning is applied, the teeming masses speak their minds about why it was wrong or right and staff returns to overturn the warning or further explain why it’s upheld or both or neither. Those are ok since they’re topical and About This Message Board.

In this case, there’s no ambiguity, there’s no unresolved board business, the warning stands as it will and should …or perhaps not? It’s been bumped and bumped again. Maybe a staff member posts “After a few spins around the mod loop, we’ve decided that OP could have reasonably misinterpreted the moderator instruction and the warning is lifted.” While this probably won’t (and should not) happen for this particular thread, I think that ATMB threads should be kept light and lean and focused on official business. And test threads. Not that I’m anything but totally disinterested.

In any case, it’s been asked and answered.

Surely you can’t be serious!

I do know that it’s unfashionable to tie a red onion to your belt. White onions only, or if you can’t get them, yellow onions are acceptable. But no red onions under any circumstances.

Garlic is also acceptable but only if you’re in Romania.

Thank you ever so much!

Since it’s not happening now as a regular thing, there’s no way it could “continue.”

He is serious, and stop calling him Shirley.

To me, “bumping” happens when a thread is languishing and clearly well on its way to obscurity, then somebody posts even though it was clear that the community was prepared to move on.

By that definition, I don’t think this thread has been bumped yet.
