The Warrior Diet

nm

… and your current regimen?

ISTR you quite recently mentioning that you were avoiding any exercise at all if possible.

ETA and the impression that I got was that this is a lifestyle choice rather than anything to do with your fasting plan.

You didn’t explain why it isn’t a bodybuilder’s diet, for one thing right off the bat it looks like the only source of protein is yogurt?! Most bodybuilders are loading up on whey/cottage cheese/canned tuna before or after their lifts, eating essentially no protein isn’t going to give you a bodybuilder’s body.

If I had to guess all this diet would do is cause a lot of weight loss of both fat and muscle.

I think diet (including supplements) in is a key reason why body builders are able to get to have such low body fat percentages…

I hate exercise. Walking if I’ve got a reason to (to get somewhere) is ok. I don’t expect to get big muscles - I just want to maintain my existing muscles.

It says to have “light protein” during the undereating phase like yoghurt and poached eggs. The overeating dinner phase is when you’d have meat, etc.

Well what you think it “looks like” is wrong.

Well look at the Warrior Diet youtube videos - there are a lot of muscley guys.

You’re not a body builder.

That’s not how any of this works.

But you know best, JC. Anyway, good luck with all that.

A while ago I did some Zumba on the Xbox 360… a problem with exercise is that I get bored or that I have bigger priorities. Walking is fine.

Ideally I’d do more exercise. Maybe I will in the future but it is a bigger priority to learn about diets.

You don’t have to be a body builder to have a low fat percentage through diet - e.g. what about anorexics or some bony celebrities.

The author of the Renegade Diet book said that the Warrior Diet can be used by average people… though it says it can make people weaker. I’ve started to read his ebook and apparently it can be tweaked to mainly just involve fat loss or to involve muscle gain.

I might be wrong on some of this - I’m just starting to learn about these things.

What proof do you have that these aren’t actors who didn’t even follow the diet plan?

Every bodybuilding diet I have ever seen has emphasized high protein, low fat anf low cards along with small more frequent meals especially before lifting sessions.

There are tons of message boards about bodybuilding online, go to one and check out some diet threads.
EDIT:Ok you said you aren’t interested in actually building muscle or bodybuilding, then your best bet is to just ignore these diets and just eat healthier in general and not worry about loading up on protein.

The youtube videos aren’t all in the official Warrior Diet channel (if it even exists) - they are from all kinds of youtube users.

There isn’t just 1 way that bodybuilders eat…
BTW in the Warrior Diet you can have small frequent snacks if it is considered “undereating” but in the Renegade diet you’re meant to water fast for 16 hours a day…

Look at all of the before and after pics - are they just actors that didn’t actually follow that diet?

If you did a google search like I mentioned you’d see that a lot of the messageboards talk about the Warrior Diet, the Renegade Diet or Leangains - which involve fasting for many hours or at least undereating.

The Renegade Diet ebook has a lot devoted to being healthy including cutting out grains, sugar, etc, and eating organic food, etc. It talks about levels of hormones, etc, in order to be healthy.
I don’t see the harm in researching these diets. There might be many things that can be applied to myself (e.g. they’re talking about cortisol, the liver, testosterone, estrogen, etc) I don’t think I need to “ignore” them. You seem eager to dismiss it when I bet you haven’t read the ebook or tried it for a few weeks.

From your link:

“Eating like a body builder will help you build muscle, lose excess weight, and maintain a healthy weight if you follow it strictly.”

Note it only says “eating” like a body builder. It does not say “eating and exercising and weight training like a body builder”…

It also says:
“Drink at least this amount every day, especially if you’re exercising.”

So your link is saying that you can follow a body builder’s diet without having to exercise…

I just posted that as an example of a diet bodybuilders eat in addition to the exercise and lifting they do of course, notice that it says “will help you” it is so obvious that diet alone won’t give you muscles they don’t bother mentioning it.

No diet is going to build muscles, you have to combine it with exercise and lifting because muscles grow larger through microtears happening during activity which your body then repairs using protein from food.

I’m not going to pay to download the Warrior Diet ebook.

EDIT:I am sure the WD will cause weightloss.

grude:
In your link I think the only supplements they mentioned are flaxseed oil and protein supplements. But body builders usually have a lot of other supplements…

Sure, and some use none at all or just whey protein powder. It is an issue with a lot of different opinions.

Good that’s one of the main factors - hopefully it will involve stubborn belly fat loss. Other aspects are quite attractive such as eating as much as you want at night - in my house we have big dinners. BTW I’m reading the Renegade Diet ebook first then I’ll read the Warrior Diet ebook.
BTW the comments here are interesting:

They have been posted over the past six years…

Maybe you could save all the money you’re spending on diet books and use it to pay for liposuction, which I understand can be quite effective in removing stubborn belly fat.

Wait-- you connected your robot vacuum cleaner to a videogame console? What’s that intended to accomplish?

From the Renegade Diet ebook:

“Great warriors of the past such as the Greeks and Trojans would go out to battle all day on very little food and then return at the end of the day to feast”
“Eating every few hours wreaks havoc on your digestive system and never allows it a chance to rest”

So, what’s your average work day like, a few hours of hacking away at hoplites in the morning, followed by a light lunch and pillaging for the rest of the day?

Ive been eating like this naturally for years! I dont get hungry during the day; dont each lunch or breakfast, and have a big dinner.
Spoiler Alert: You wont lose any weight, especially not belly fat!
