The Wedding's Off! {Updated: I'm wed!]

Damn, your uncle doesn’t fuck around.

There was a story last year in Notalwaysright where a hotel worker had a bride and her mum show up to claim a block of rooms that had never been reserved. It turned out the groom was responsible for that and kept dithering around until the hotel cancelled on him.

As it turned out, he wasn’t even in town, was married and ad three kids, and never figured things would get that far.

So, one year update: Wedding’s tomorrow! No covid positive tests among any guests! Everything’s on track!

And at 9:45 this evening, less than 24 hours before the ceremony, the caterer backs out. Seems they got their dates mixed up, and thought it was next weekend.

You know, marriage is amazing. But this wedding is fucking cursed.

Damn right. Break a leg!

Good luck.

Auguri!

You’ll get through it, and then you’ll have great stories to laugh about later.

Congratulations and I wish you all the happiness.

Amazing! Congratulations and best wishes!

Congratulations! Best wishes for a beautiful wedding and a long happy marriage!

( The old rule of thumb is don’t drink 1/2 the drinks offered to you, but eat some food every time there is some near you! In the olden days, brides & grooms would be so busy going around the room and doing reception activities that they’d end up starving by the end of the night. )

Best wishes.

That’s going to be a bit of a trick right now.

The tastiest guests did not make it out of the wedding.

Takeout pizza?

As has been noted, it’s the glitches that are the best after-wedding tales for years to come. Hang onto that.

How many guests are you planning for?

Any deli should be able to throw together a variety of sandwiches and offer some sides. Finger food will be better and easier for your guests, and less messy all around. Everyone will understand your need to switch to disposable products in this situation. Just remember serving utensils and trash containers.

Was the caterer to provide the cake? (Assuming you’re having one.)

The marriage is the important thing, and you already know that!

All the very best to you and your wife!

Just got off the phone with a Puerto Rican place that we frequent that also does catering - they’re able to pull together enough food to feed ~30 people and get it here by 1:00. So, crises adverted. Hopefully the last one for the day.

Shout out to Sol Food of San Rafael for saving our wedding.

So glad to get an update… and it came with a second helping of drama!

Puerto Rican reception? Excellent!

I forgot this is what Miller entitled the thread, and was concerned something horrible had happened to a Doper that resulted in them calling off a wedding.

I’m glad to be wrong. And that catering sounds delightful.

So excited for you that you finally get to hold it. Congrats!

It snowed the morning of my outdoor wedding, so I spent the morning trying to figure out where we could fit everyone inside. Then the band had trouble getting to the venue, so the 8-piece band started as a 3-piece and eventually grew to 6. It’s all part of the adventure.

Mazel tov!

The weddings done, and it was awesome.

Thanks to everyone for their support!

I’m very tired right now.
