"The West Wing" endgame (open spoilers!)

Not too many more episodes yet to go. Who will win the presidential race? What will become of the indicted Toby? Will Josh and Donna find true happiness together?

In post #6 of this thread, http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=363624, SpoilerVirgin suggests that Leo McGarry dies early on Election Day. The preview for next week’s (April 2) episode certainly hinted at that.

If so, that raises some interesting possibilities. If Santos says he’ll only decide who he’ll choose as VP (under the 25th Amendment) when/if he’s elected, he might be seen as vacillating… and would also miss the opportunity to name a popular running mate (who could help him win California, for instance, where the polls would close late that day). On the other hand, this might be seen as pandering, and turn off the voters. On the third hand (!), in most states the person he says is his running mate after Leo would have no legal import - Leo’s name would appear on the ballot anyway.

It certainly looks like they’re foreshadowing a Florida 2000-style legal battle over the vote-counting, too.

Will Bartlet relent and pardon Toby before he leaves office? Did Bartlet reveal the military space shuttle’s existence to him in the first place?

Y’know, if Santos wins the election, I could almost see him asking Vinick to be his VP…

I’m also guessing Bartlet will pardon Toby. Toby clearly doesn’t serve six years in prison anyway (in the season opener he’s teaching at Columbia in three years). My other guess is that Bartlet was the one who leaked the information to Toby.
