The Big Lebowski
It is said that this is a movie that some people either get it or they don’t.
WRONG! I get it! I get all of it! It’s just not funny!
Who wants to see a total loser with total loser friends get beaten up, stomped on, used, abused, and generally treated like shit… for no reason at all?
This is not entertainment, this is just stupid!
And how come the slightly cool-ish character played by Steve Buscemi dies at the end??? What the fuck???

I second, third, fourth, and fifth “Magnolia”. I had no sympathy for Julianne Moore’s character. I just wanted to slap her. When the ending FINALLY arrived I didn’t care how those incredibly boring stories meshed together.

Just have to point out that his name is Corso. BTW, I don’t participate in these “good movie/bad movie” debates on the board because for a board populated with extremely intelligent people, as a whole the taste in movies around here sucks.
Very few individuals on this board have the first clue about good cinema. Sure, you can say, “I don’t like it,” but leave it at that.
People criticizing movies as “stupid” because they don’t understand them is pathetic and irritating. Just because a film has not been dumbed down to Frank Capra level doesn’t mean it isn’t a great movie. (No offense to Capra fans but his films aren’t exactly deep.)
This post isn’t directed at anyone in particular (even people in this thread), I just wanted to vent. Sorry, back to mundane, pointless stuff!
I always try to do things in chronological order.
Oh yeah, Magnolia was a complete bit of nonsense. Three hours I’ll never get back.
Did any of you see Tim Robbin’s Cradle Will Rock? Oy, what a self-indulgent, sophomoric bit of 19 year old socialist crap! (And mind you, I consider myself a bleeding-heart liberal.) Hank Azaria as this talentless, tortured songwriter. Susan Sarandon as an Italian countess with an accent that sounds like Bela Lugosi. And the most insulting, hammy, horrific portrayal of Orson Welles I hope I will ever see. (If I were the holder of his estate I’d sue.) I can’t believe this came from the same guy who gave us the compelling *Dead Man Walking *.
