I wouldn’t say what’s in quotes because it’s far from true. Racism is alive and well in people of all colors and the justice system is far from fair.
But I have minority neighbors and I have had minority neighbors my whole life. You’d be surprised at some of the solutions they have for problems in predominantly minority communities. Stuff I find extreme. I have never had a problem with my minority neighbors and we get into discussions that are sensitive and controversial with no problem.
It’s actually easy to chat about this sort of stuff with them because “asshole” and “dickhead” aren’t the sort of stuff mature adults feel the need to use when talking.

On another note when I was a little kid I went to a kid’s birthday part on Halloween. We were all supposed to bring our costumes and go trick or treating afterward. One kid was going as a ghost using the two-eyeholes- in - a- sheet method, honored since time immemorial. He put it it on over his point paper birthday hat.
None of us at the time were old enough to understand at the time that this was a bad idea, and we were all baffled by the reaction of the parent who made him take off the hat before going trick or treating.
When I was a kid, I did a drawing of an astronaut in art class, and then covered his spacesuit in swastikas, because I thought the shape looked neat. I was deeply confused when it came back from the teacher, and she’d connected the legs of all the swastikas so they looked like little windows, instead.

And the nazi’s didn’t invent the swastika and means good fortune or well being and is also a chines character but it’s irrelevant as it is the will of any given society to dictate the intent or meaning of any symbol, flag or other.
So you’re free to wear a big swastika on your head with the intention and meaning of well being or other but society has already labeled it’s own definition and you are judged for it…so now goes the same for confederate flags.
Heh. My daughter is obsessed with great white sharks (or used to be–she’s moved on to dolphins). Last year she REALLY wanted to be one for Halloween. As usual, I was responsible for making her costume, and as usual, I mocked up a costume out of white paper to figure out how to do it.
She put the shark head I’d made on her head. I took one look at it and said, “Nope! Find something else to be for Halloween.”
