Thanks again for all the birthday wishes. I had a really good day yesterday, even if I was dragged to the mall to shop for my birthday present. We started out in one store and I had four or five purses in my hand, but couldn’t decide which one I wanted. They could tell I didn’t really love any of them, so they refused to let me get one there. Then, they dragged me to Penneys, and while I would find a purse I thought I liked it would be the wrong color and I’d start to settle on something, but once again, they refused to let me choose one there because I didn’t love what I saw. Then we went to lunch. After lunch, we headed to Macy’s, where I was steering them to the purses that WERE NOT under the locked glass counters. I had one or two in my hand, and was trying to decide, when one of my friends found this:
They know my style, that’s for sure. Anyway, I told them no, no way, no how, it was waaaaay too much money for me to feel comfortable letting them pay for it and that I would be perfectly content with something for far, far less. I was told to shut the hell up and that they were getting it for me. I was really, really uncomfortable and shaking a little bit. I actually started kind of tearing up because I was kind of overwhelmed. They love me, they tell me that constantly, and they wanted me to get something I LOVED and hadn’t “settled” on, which is my usual way of doing things. I insisted for quite awhile, but they weren’t hearing it and now I have a beautiful new purse. Mine is the chestnut color.
After the purse was purchased, we came back to my house, where my husband drove me to Costco and bought me this for my birthday:
It’s what I’ve been researching and kind of drooling over for a month or two. I was going to save for it and told my husband it was too much money for right now, but he insisted that I get it because I never buy anything for myself, much less splurge. I plan to spend today really learning how to use all the functions.
2gig, I hope your day goes better than you’re anticipating. Maybe it’ll bring just a little closure to the whole situation so you can start feeling better about things.
**FCD **has just left for Johnstown… again… He’s using the company truck - a Ford F-350 diesel dually king cab with an 8’ bed and the full pimp interior. It’s got leather seats, wood trim, a TV and DVD player in the back, at least 3 remotes that I saw, and probably more crap that wasn’t obvious to the casual glance. His bosses decided it was cheaper for him to drive that than for them to pay for a rental van. I can’t wait to see what his diesel costs for the trip! Anyway, with luck, he’ll be home on Thurs and take a 4-day weekend. We shall see.
It’s overcast and quite cool so far. I may or may not go to the convenience center today. Meanwhile, I’ve got a jigsaw-a-day to do. We’ll see how I feel after that.
**Taters **- I’d be terrified of owning a purse that cost that much. Then again, my current bag cost a whopping $13 at WalMart, and it’s actually a really good design. Just wish it was a tad better quality. Don’t get me wrong - it’s more than worth the $13, but I’d have paid more for this same bag if they’d made it from better materials. On the other hand, I have no problem tossing this one on the floor of the car when we go places. But I’m glad you love your new purse - your friends rock!
Taters congrats on the awesome swag! Your friends and your hubby really, really, really lurve you! Then again, we all lurve you!
Home from deheathenization. I did convince OYKW (ok told) to take me to breakfast. We went to Waffle House bein’ the gourmets that we are. I had bacon, grits, scrambled aigs with cheese and raisin toast with apple butter. He had the same. I was stuffded and thus do not want N.O.L. That breakfast and the huge meal we had last night leave me not wantin’ foodstuffs at all right now.
Hope everyone is havin’ a good day. gigity hope your day goes well, especially.
FCM, the purse I’ve been using is 8 or 9 years old and is also a Dooney and Bourke that my husband gave me for Christmas at that time because he wouldn’t let me “settle”. I’d say I got my money’s worth and then some. It still looks great and I can swap the bags out when I want to now. I won’t purchase something like that for myself.
I have extremely generous friends who insist on sharing it. They become a little miffed if you refuse too strenuously.
It has been thundering and lightening since 1AM this morning and it is still raining so a lazy day is called for here. There were parts of the city without power this morning but we were OK out here in the sticks.
We made breakfast and my biscuits were delicious as were the omelettes mr ems fixed. I have stripped our bed and washed the sheets and a load of towels. I am going to go sort through our linen closet and sort out some of the sheets we have that can go to Goodwill along with the 3 bags of clothes I sorted out a couple of weeks ago. I also have some shoes that can go as well. Then I dunno after that…maybes a nap?
Oh boy, it’s nice to feel like my old, chipper self! I slept for most of 2 days and lost 10 lbs (a plus) I woke starving this morning. Hubby still isn’t perfect, but then what husband ever is? At least he’s on the mend.
Thanks for all the good thoughts.
**picu]/b] glad you’re better and hubby is on the mend.
I mentioned earlier that we to visit friends in large and in charge Pelham, Jawja. I love the welcome sign there. It says, Welcome to Pelham, GA A Special Place. Gives me the giggles everytime I see that sign. What were they thinkin’!
My sweetie arrived safely, but he forgot to pack his meds - not good. I’ve had leftover pot roast for supper. It smells like it wants to rain. I need to feed the fish.
The Melting Pot was so friggen good (and horribly expensive!) It’s a good thing the 5 of us (me, Sweetie, my bestie, her hubby and kid) only go out to eat together once a month. Last month was Japanese. Next month is tappas.
Anyway, Sweetie and I got a 4 course for 2 and so did my bestie. Then we shared. For the first course we got some Wisconson cheese fondue which was good but a bit too boozy. Bestie got the cheddar fondue, which was awesome. I wanted the spinach artichoke but Sweetie didn’t. He promised that I can get it next time. The second course was salad. Third course was the meat course. Sweetie and I got the mojo broth which was a bit spicy and very citrusy and so amazingly good. Bestie got the regular broth. I didn’t taste most of the meats because the beef was so good that I couldn’t stop eating it. The NOTs and broccoli were also supremely good and I can’t wait to go again because the mojo broth was awesome. The 4th course was dessert. We got the smores fondue and bestie got the chocolate/peanut butter. They were both very good but the sweetness was nearly oppressive. We had 2 waiters and they were both awesome and both obviously liked their jobs. We had so much fun because of the atmosphere of the restaurant and the personalities of the waiters. (seriously, if you ever go to the Melting Pot in Providence, ask for Emerson and Gabe).
Anyway, by the time we finished eating (2.5 hours!!) my medication had finally kicked in (5 hours after I got the shot in the ER). It was nice being able to walk back to the car with only minimal cane use.
By the time we got home though, the medication was wearing off so I went to bed.
Today I did way more than I should have but the next 4 days at least are supposed to be rainy and I had stuff to do! I weeded my gardens (I used the car creeper to move around). Then I helped Sweetie clean the garage. My medication was working for that so I was able to walk. However, we’re done now and I’m sitting down and I’m not sure I’ll be able to walk again today. I’m in a lot of pain but my gardens and garage look spiffy.
Soapy has graciously stepped forward (we shall ignore the fact that she tripped on her shoelaces) to volunteer as our hostess with the mostess for the brand new MMP.
All in favor say “Aye.”
AYE!!!
All those opposed [del]go sit on a tack[/del] say “Nay.”
::crickets::
The “Ayes” have it. Soapy shall regale us with tales or sump’n or other which we shall promptly hijack.
Yanno, last week, I had a great idea for the MMP, but it got started when I was sleeping. No biggie - it wasn’t time sensitive, so it would keep. Except I forgot to make a note of what I thought of. So yay for **Soapy **for starting the next round!!! And boo for forgetting a brilliant potential MMP… Stoopit brain…
