To be blunt, not much.
Balls of the highest order. As has been mentioned it is merely a tired twist on an uncreated-creator.
And you know what? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Mr Pratchett has a better handle on the human condition than most people who set themselves up as philosophers or theologians.
We should be thankful he turned to proper literature rather than choosing an L. Ron Hubbard cult creation. Imagine what that would’ve looked like!
I love how the creation problem is defined away by deciding there is an “everlasting creator”. That is a clumsy attempt to remove the first cause argument. World created by a thought. Then who had the thought? When did he get created? Who created him?
God created the world. Who created god? Well, he always was and always will be. Who can find fault in that?
AMEN!
Imagine a thread created by a single thought… so pure in its simplicity, so profound in its implications.
From this single thought, from this single thread, an entire message board grows, one thought inspiring the next, one thread inspiring another. In time every thought is expressed, every problem is posed, every solution is offered.
Then… eh, I got nothin’.
I think it’s made-up meaningless bullshit. That’s great if it strikes some sort of chord with you. However it isn’t based on any particular fact or repeatable observations or anything else the author could possibly actually know or understand. That makes it his arbitrary made-up thoughts. And if it is arbitrary, the only thing that lends it any credibility over anyone elses arbitrary musings is that you happen to like it.
