The World's Worst Beaches

Sadly, the population of Revere Beach Whitefish has dramatically declined in recent years, along with the Floater incidence. I’d even go in the water these days.
In fact, given that the drunk, junkie and homeless populations probably are a strong as ever, the water might be the safest place to be.

Please don’t judge UK beaches by the likes of Blackpool. I’ve visited more than 50 countries (yes, including Australia) and seen some fantastic beaches, and some of the most beautiful are right here in Britain. Sure, Australia has some lovely beaches - Wineglass Bay was my favourite, but the water is a lot warmer here than in Tasmania!

Here are a few:

Kynance Cove

Watergate Bay

Sandwood Bay

Seilebost

Woolacombe

St Ives

I could go on…

I have to nominate Key West, FL. No waves, disgusting plant life, and rocky beaches.

I love the town, but the beaches are terrible.

Meh, on a low enough tide, I’m able to wade out on the sewege pipe at Dockweiler Beach. That way I can fish further away from shore.

Sort of going through the motions!

Goa beaches aren’t too bad, and beautiful in certain spots. Factor in the smell, and it’s not a surprise they are on a ‘worst’ list.

But don’t you love that dirty water?

Hmm. Chowpatty Beach is fun. The carts serving chaat and other snacks are great, and the beach has looked nothing like that picture whenever I’ve been there. I wouldn’t swim there but it is a nice enough place in the choas that is Mumbai.

Calling Goa’s (which is a state, not a beach) beaches bad because there are cows present? Makes no sense to me. There are some very serene beaches and some very lively beaches in Goa. None of them should make this list in my book.

As for the black sand beaches in Hawai’i, I haven’t been to all of them, but there are definitely some that the sand is very fine and pleasant to lie down on.

For me, I’d put the beach along the Nice coastline in France on the list. What a rocky, pebbly mess.

Many of the beaches in the Canary Islands are black for the same reason. They get used, same as pebbly beaches (“pebble” can mean things the size of my fist) in other areas of Spain, but maybe the black sand in the Canaries is smaller than in Hawaii.
