The Wrong Mans

A comedy/thriller BBC mini-series that came over on Hulu recently. Has anyone seen it? Hulu may have screwed up because it still has release dates in the future which means they accidently released all 6 episodes simultaneously.

SPOILERS AHEAD

Anyway, I found it enjoyable enough. It certainly spoofed the genre in the right places. The name of the series itself is a mockup of the '50s Hichcock thriller.
The bit in episode 6 where Sam and Phil escaped the helicopter by spinning in circles enough to create a smoke screen thus allowing them to run 100 yards away into the woods with no one seeing them was my biggest :dubious: of the series, but otherwise I went along for the ride.

I was fine with them introducing and then killing off people immediately. Again, it’s a commentary on the genre. But I found that doing it didn’t allow the viewer time to really figure out how the pieces all fit together. Which was probably the intention because, looking back on all 6 episodes, I’m not entirely sure how it fits together.

The plot starts with what you learn is a Chinese gang having kidnapped a woman, and a husband trying to get her back. But the Chinese gang doesn’t seem to fit into the larger picture. They drop off around episode 4. So why exactly are they kidnapping her? Then the husband’s ransom money gets stolen by a random guy who gets picked up by a British Intelligence agent. The agent is working with a Russian and gets killed by a Russian double agent.
Cool, but why are all these entities so interested in a nefarious plan that basically boils down to “buy a bunch of land in a small county in England and make a profit”?

Am I missing something? Did the plot make sense to anyone else? What did you all think of this series?
