The X-Files Season 10 Thread

Mulder and Murray…what a team!

Well that was fun!

This latest episode was tremendously entertaining! One of my very favorites. Loved the whimsical / comedic aspect. Weird, wild stuff indeed!

Yes, she is.

I thought it was 3/4 of a great episode. Very clever and fun in the beginning and the middle , but I thought it sort of fell flat at the end.

So we turn the werewolf myth on its head. Man bites dog. Ok, then what? Part of the myth of werewolves and vampires is that there is something unique about them that their bite alone can turn you. But humans don’t have that - we’re “normal”. So how does it work? Who knows!

If you treat the episode as a study on how we respond to myth, how we choose to believe (or not) that’s fine, but is it a good use of one of your six episodes? And now there’s yet another “monster” out there living among us, but not with us. Must be crowded out there in the woods.

Here’s a list of all the Easter eggs in the episode.

So much fun.

I was watching episodes 2 and 3 on the DVR last night and couldn’t help but think that if Duchovny’s eyes got a little beadier and he got a little more jowly, he’d be a dead ringer for Walter Matthau.

Kind of a fun episode. I noticed that Mulder brought his own green glass to the cemetery, just in case. But I can’t tell if the monster was deliberately cheesy, or if they skimped on the makeup. In particular, you could see the human skin behind the mouth and eyes – this would have been a bottom look on Face Off.

Are there actually any purely insectivores the size of humans? I’d think you’d have to work pretty hard as a 200 pound insectivore, even if cold blooded.

I noticed that, too, and I’m certain it was intentional. The transformation scene in the motel room was very old-school. Just slow camera dissolves from one stage of make-up to the next, like in the old werewolf or Jekyll/Hyde movies.

The giant anteater is pretty big :

Maxing out a ninety pounds, just on a diet of ants!

Ok… I said it was an OK to good episode and here’s some of the reasons why.

Mulder’s cell phone camera app. Seriously?

Mulder’s complaining about all the monsters he’s been chasing when most, were in fact, monsters.

Mulder.

Mulder being protective of Scully, but not taking his own advice of being alone when confronting a suspect.

The Darin Morgan episode did not disappoint. And yeah that make up was definitely cheesy on purpose. It was also perfect in the way that it looked scary or goofy depending on the lighting and body language.

Our favorite stoners! I had no idea that was them again! Didn’t Seth Green do drugs with them in an X-files as well?

I swear I laughed through at least 2/3 of it. Going to have to rewatch to see if I missed anything. :o

Much better than the first two episodes, as far as I’m concerned. I’m well aware it was crazy/silly as hell, but it was fun.

I was not expecting an episode this good from the reboot. Holy hell that was the best hour of TV outside of Fargo I’ve seen in a long time.

I think my favorite WTF touch was Mulder’s cell phone ring.

For me it was Mulder in the red speedo.

I just saw it tonight.
It was damned odd.
Did the X-Files drive Muldar to drink? :dubious:

Well, that dude did. Not permanently or anything.

Indeed she is. Mrowrrrrr.

Agreed on all counts! One point Mulder ought to’ve followed up on - the unexplained power of the dog warden’s bite to turn lizard-dude into were-human (“Guy Mann” - heh).

Ah, thanks! Good to know.

Also the goofy, good-hearted bank manager in Jim Carrey’s Yes Man.

Excellent - thanks! I’m proud to say I spotted most of 'em.

You see… I’m really happy people liked it.

Was the hotel owner the same actor in Jose Chung? The one who played hypnotist? He looked awfully familiar.

I saw it again, (with someone who disliked it more than I did.) The one thing I forgot to list of the things that bothered me about the episode was the ringtone. I’m having a difficult time expressing this, but it just ‘took me out of’ the realm of the show. That might be the gag, but I don’t think it’s worth the chuckle to have the show reference itself in such a way.

Same thing with the makeup. Now I loved that Lord Kimbote in ‘Jose Chung’ looked like a stop-motion creature that’s appearance and manner of speaking was absurd, but there I feel that there was a reason for it. It had a reason to be hokey. Here, if it’s intended to look silly… I don’t get the gag.
