The year in Win2k keeps resetting back to 2002. Help!

For some reason, my computer will NOT allow itself to be set to the year 2003 - it just reverts back to 2002 whenever it is rebooted, and I can’t figure out what the hell is causing it! I’ve virus scanned, but to no avail. I’ve tried setting the date in the bios (cmos) and that doesnt help either. When I reboot, it changes back to, which makes me thing something in windows is changing it. Does anyone know what I can do to get the damn date to stick with 2003? Its been a terrible nuisance, causing me headaches with internet browsing (dated security certificates) and whatnot. HELP!

Thanks.

Is this a home computer or an office computer?

It’s possible that you have the Windows Time service started and that it’s set to synchronize with some incorrect server.

Right-click My Computer, hit Manage, expand Services and Applications, and select Services. Scroll down in the right pane until you see Windows Time. Double-click it. If Startup type is Automatic, set it to Manual and click the Stop button. This will keep Windows from setting the time and date automatically.

Alternatively, you may want to start the service and set it to a working server. You can do this by going to a command prompt and typing
net time \computername /setsntp:time.nist.gov

This will periodically synchronize your computer’s time and date with one of the US government’s atomic clocks.

Thank you so much for the advice, I’ll try it out. And yeah, this is a home pc, connected to a network of 2 other computers (for sharing a broadband connection)

thanks again…
