The ZPG Zealot handshake thread party extravaganza

Where’s the part about it being attempted rape? :dubious: Why didn’t you quote that part for us?

Don’t be a bigger prick than you already are. Read the article. Then try to understand how she views it.

In the US, it has been hammered into us that women are to be treated exactly the same as men in business settings.

And that’s a good thing.

Now, some people in this thread are asking that we treat women differently? (offer a handshake to the men, and not offer one to the women in the room)

Fuck this shit. Whoever supports this is a flaming idiot.

What if there were some cultures where you should not speak to women unless they speak to you. If you speak to them before they speak to you that is considered very inappropriate and culturally insensitive. Would you then, in the US, in a business meeting walk into a conference room and start talking to the men and don’t talk to the women unless they speak to you, just in case you run into a woman from this culture? Fuck this shit.

It’s getting to the point where the insane want to run the asylum.

Oh, she’s explained at length how she views it and I’m telling you that I don’t believe she’s explaining any actual culture, she’s just telling us her own beliefs (and those are crazy).

Are you aware that the text you’ve referred us to doesn’t even acknowledge that people have a right not to be touched by anyone they don’t want to be touched by, by the way?

That’s a dumb as hell way to look at things, IMO.

Take a look at what came up in the second hit:

So ZPGZ would even get the SWISS upset? That’s saying something…

ZPG Zealot, what you’re demanding is impractical. You say that men should ask before even offering a hand to be shaken, but there are women who would be offended at being treated *that *way, too. And imagine President Obama shaking hands with well-wishers. With lines that long, wouldn’t he have to ask like 200 times, since he’d encounter hundreds of women in the crowded line of people greeting the President?

Also, I’ve heard feminists clamor for many things, but I have never known someone to draw the line at hand-shaking like you. What is it about hand-shaking? Why are you so adamant about this particular one thing?

I don’t need to read the fucking article. I live in Brooklyn, not Peckerwood, Mississippi. I know lots of Orthodox Jewish and Muslim women, and I show them respect by not offering them my hand or raping them.

Nonetheless, I consider their “DON’T TOUCH ME” religious beliefs to be a high pile of horse shit. Jews and Muslims are the biggest assholes on the planet, after the Christians.

She has explained that she sees the offering of a hand as akin to attempted rape. I can understand the prohibition of touching (or being touched by) a member of the opposite sex. Ok, it’s not my culture, so i don’t understand it fully, but I can respect it. I canNOT understand likening it to sexual assault to merely offer a hand. Yes, grabbing her hand or trying to force a handshake would be terrible if your culture and/or religion forbids it. But simply sticking a hand out does not make a man a rapist, as she has implied. *And accepting the proffered hand does not make me a whore, or a slut, or a gender traitor. *

…dafuq WE do???

I see someone’s never been to Waco. They don’t call it Wacko for naught.

So where do we stand on kissing a lady’s hand upon being introduced?

I guess that would depend if you’re slipping some tongue between the fingers.

Perv!

Right.

I am Jewish. I have friends who are Orthodox. I understand that some people don’t want any physical contact between the sexes, and while i think it’s an unfortunate rule, i respect it and people who follow it.

What i neither understand nor respect is the idea that simply offering to shake hands with someone is offensive. Let alone similar to rape.

purplehorseshoe wasn’t talking about ZPG Zealot not wanting to shake hands, but about ZPG Zealot wanting no man to ever extend his hand in offered greeting to a woman. Like purplehorseshoe, in professional settings I want to be evaluated by what I do, not by what I have in my groin.

Someone who extends his hand to men but not to women is evaluating groinal content first. Fuck that shit.

What, that didn’t end with the Branch Davidian thing?

And when did ZPG claim to be a Muslim? :dubious:

So she does not want to touch someone because she does not want their negative energy, makes sense to me now.

It’s clearly not legally attempted rape. She’s saying she finds an unwanted handshake as offense as she finds a rape. I don’t, but I’m not going to tell somebody else what they should or shouldn’t be offended by.

Not ever? Everything that someone says offends them is A-OK with you? :dubious:
