Would you then, in the US, in a business meeting walk into a conference room and start talking to the men and don’t talk to the women unless they speak to you, just in case you run into a woman from this culture? I don’t need to read the fucking article. I live in Brooklyn, not Peckerwood, Mississippi. I know lots of Orthodox Jewish and Muslim women, and I show them respect by not offering them my hand or raping them.

I am Jewish. I have friends who are Orthodox. I understand that some people don’t want any physical contact between the sexes, and while i think it’s an unfortunate rule, i respect it and people who follow it.
What i neither understand nor respect is the idea that simply offering to shake hands with someone is offensive. Let alone similar to rape.
