"There a good bit of waving"?

A friend was talking about the movie Ant-man and said “It was pretty good. . . there’s a good bit of waving, but it wasn’t too bad.” My response was “What? Waving?”

You guys ever heard that phrase? I think it means overlooking plot holes or the suspension of disbelief or something like that.

I assume it’s short for “hand waving” or dismissing an issue. I’m never heard it shortened like that though although I’ve heard plenty of people use the phrase “hand wave”.
