On the other hand, they do take their hockey seriously. Some people did not take Vancouver’s loss of the Stanley Cup to Boston very well. Pretty shocking video on NWCN this morning. (I haven’t watched the video on the link yet.)
A Facebook page encourages witnesses to post pictures of rioters in the act, with the hope that the participants will be identified and prosecuted.
I found this tidbit interesting:
Not that I foresee anyone receiving a life sentence, but it’s interesting that they have that law.
This post sums up my thoughts pretty well. Ottawa calmly took playoff defeat. As did Calgary and Edmonton. What is it about Vancouver that makes them so shitty in this regard?
I will give Van and Mtl credit and say that I think the bulk of the damage was caused by people looking to riot, who don’t watch hockey at all. But it was still despicable.
And congrats to Shane Hnidy, Chris Kelly, Zdeno Chara, and any other former Ottawa Senators who hoisted the cup last night.
This is just surreal. A lot of young kids, alcohol, and a Stanley Cup loss send the Canuck fans off the deep end…
**CRSP **- That guy that got his head beat in (and the other guy in the white canucks jersey) was not thinking. I don’t care if it’s your store or not… that’s why you pay insurance premiums. To get yourself between a building and the nuts that want to break the windows and loot is moronic. They both could have easily been killed.
I’ve watched quite a few of the clips on you tube, and it shows a lot of young girls kicking in windows. Very strange to watch mob mentality kick into high gear.
With today’s technology, I’m guessing there will be a ton of people arrested. You can see faces clear as day.
