There's One Sack of Cholera Gone: Chris Christie

We’re stuck in Gov. Chris Christie’s Fort Lee, New Jersey traffic jam!

That would work if this wasn’t the board where even most of the Democrats hate political correctness.

Yeah, hard to get your head around it, but it’s the way it is.

C…c…cameltoe??

Double click rule?

Are you having a fit? What are you even talking about?

On any given day, progressives (of which I am one) would call Christie a reprehensible toad. But today, for reasons I’ve yet to understand, we’re supposed to lament his unceremonious expulsion from a position of power and influence in the Trump administration. Seriously, WTF?

Nothing I’ve read about him thus far indicates that he’s evil. You may be right. He may turn out to be Satan incarnate. On the other hand, he might turn out to be a moderating voice on Trump’s lesser angels. There just isn’t enough information to know either way.

Frankly, I think more is being made of him than is warranted. He’s a 35 year old who’s daddy bought him a spot in Harvard for $2.5M - so he didn’t get in on his own merit - and then he dropped out because he had to go run the family business after his old man was doing time in prison. Nothing we know about him thus far makes him the Rasputin everyone is trying to make him out to be. Let’s just take a collective deep breath and calm the fuck down about this one guy.

I know nothing about Jared Kushner, but it’s at least possible that he wanted Christie gone for the same reasons other people wanted him gone, isn’t it?

I mean, does anyone believe Christie wasn’t behind the bridge fiasco?

God, let’s hope so. Has that fucker done anything except masturbate about 9/11 for the past 15 years?
For all his faults, and there are many and let’s hope he winds up in a size 7x orange jumpsuit, Christie knows how government works. He may be New Jersey’s Boss Hogg, but at least he would be able to get the process going. Now he’s on the sidelines.

Amen.

I’m asking you, as one progressive to another, please stop grasping at straws. It smacks of desperation.

No fan of either Christie and Giuliani, but if anything I think they are arguably the better supporting actors in his cast.

He’s of minor importance now. He will not be re-elected, he will never be president. Seeing him jailed for his role in the GWB fiasco would be quite satisfying but not of any significance.

 You’re the one who posted the irrelevant claim that Kushner Scum donated money to the Clintons. My response presupposed that you thought that irrelevancy to have some relevance, which we were supposed to guess at.

Now it appears you understood that the claim was always irrelevant. We’re still left with one mystery: why did you post it?

Elsewhere IIRC you claim to be a progressive! Do you have a cite for that? :stuck_out_tongue: The vague impression I’ve gotten from a few of your posts I’ve skimmed is that you’re a Trumpist.

I don’t know how you got yourself so deep into the woods but if you follow the sound of my voice, perhaps I can lead you out:

  • I’ve never been, nor am I now a Trump supporter (I do not expect you to know that)
  • I liked Bernie but settled for Hillary
  • I’m a Canadian liberal living in the US, so by American standards I’m practically a socialist
  • I don’t understand why progressives are getting upset about Christie being shoved out of Trump’s cabinet when on any other day he’s generally viewed as a loathsome toad
  • While we’ve become familiar with Trumps immediate circle of deplorables, I became curious as to why Kushner Jr was suddenly getting all this attention
  • In doing some research, I could find nothing to be immediately alarmed about - he seems like the least objectionable of the bunc,h because and unlike the rest of the Trump clown posse, he’s the only one not on record saying unbearably dumb shit
  • Until evidence to the contrary, I’m hoping he’ll be the one positive influence in the face of the asshattery that is Trump & Co.

Let me know if any of this looks familiar to you now.

There’s so much hate on this board.

As I said in post #2, “The quality of most groups of people would be improved by giving Christie the boot. We’ve got an exception here, and it’s in the worst possible place.”

Maybe you disagree?

Like I said, his vendetta against Christie himself is at least understandable, if less than justified. But widening that vendetta to include anyone with modest connections to Christie, shows not just ruthlessness, but a total lack of judgment or proportion.

To steal from Weird Al’s “One More Minute,” it’s the jump from

And I burned down the malt shop where we used to go
just because it reminds me of you

That there is. Much like the US in general there’s more ugliness just under the surface than one would suspect.
