Both Mr. brown and I received today $90 each from Social Security. Googling says:
“The checks, which have already hit some seniors’ bank accounts, are tied to the Trump administration’s announcement that it would send checks to 20 million Medicare enrollees to lower healthcare costs.”
I won’t accept bribe money originating from the orange turd. I’m sending our $180 directly to the Democratic party.
Respect to all who do that I’d love to see it become a trend, with everyone letting Dem Party know where it came from. And then the word getting out to El Stupido that he just added to the "lunatics’ " coffer.
My wife read on Reddit somewhere that this $90 payment was actually some sort of overpayment refund that was set up during the Obama administration. She’s trying to verify that this is true but not having much luck. Has anyone else heard anything like that? It seems odd to me that they would set up a payment like that for 12-15 years in the future, since a lot of people on Social Security might not be around to collect by that time.
Apparently more like it’s from a fund that was created way back then (2008 so W, not Obama) and the current crew noticed there was still money sitting there after all this time.
I’m one of the 950,000 who got the $500 ACA refund, for using the ACA without a subsidy. Unlike the $90 refunds that just showed up in your bank account, our checks came with an incredibly stupid letter from Trump.
While I would like to donate my $500 to Amy Acton’s campaign for governor, or Sherrod Brown’s campaign for senate (like many Ohioans on Reddit have done), mine is going into savings for now. I’m playing savings catch-up from the $100/mo extra my ACA plan is costing, higher grocery costs and higher gas costs.
I haven’t, at least so far, seen any such $90. If I do, I’m broke, I’ll take it. Part of it can pay for gas to get me to the nearest October 17 action.
What I have seen is a letter offering me $1000 in matching funds to be deposited in my non-existent IRA; along with the helpful information that if I haven’t got one I could start one, and a link for instructions to some site including Trump in its name. So if I had enough money to dump $2000 in an account (it’s a 50% match), they’d give me another thousand. But for those too broke to do so, no money for us!
Yeah, it’s likely you’ll get flooded. It’s kind of a drag but when you text ‘stop’ / email ‘unsubscribe’ they really do leave you alone. At least where I am that’s been the case.
I could be wrong, and somebody else will straighten me out, I’m sure, but I understand it’s related to Medicare. If you have regular Medicare you will get it. If you have Medicare Advantage, you will not. My sample is just a few people around here at The Home.
