They brought the whole family!

We get JW’s about once a month. Usually it’s two men or two women. Today it was the mom, dad, little boy, little girl. All at my door. I think that is really weird. The kids were maybe 6 and 4.

The boy was all fidgety and clearly bored. The little girl kept trying to talk to me about my dog. Why on earth would you bring your kids? especially such young ones? What possible good could it do to have them along with you? Has anyone else had whole families come to the door?

Fwiw, they were polite and left when I wasn’t interested.

Maybe they figure people will be nicer if there are kids present.

Maybe they didn’t want to pay a babysitter.

Maybe they think people will be less likely to attack them with swords if they have children with them. No wait, that didn’t work either.

Many years ago, I lived in Kansas City MO. One summer day, during a thunderstorm, amid tornado alerts, there came a small knock on my door. It was a small child, a girl, with a toddler in tow. They were drenched to the skin. The baby was crying. The little girl couldn’t have been more than 5. In her hand she had a sheaf of Watch Tower pamphlets.
I asked where her parents were and she said they were a couple streets over. She was supposed to meet them at the corner when she was done passing out her pamphlets.
I called 911. A very nice policeman put the kids in his car, called child services, then went to look for the parents.
I don’t know what happened after that.

Oh. Oh. oh my. BLESS YOU! You restore my faith in humanity!!!

Yes, and not long ago–maybe a couple of weeks.

I used the peephole in the door to see who it was, and when I saw who it was, I figured JWs, and so I didn’t open the door. It was a man, carrying a thick book which I assumed was a Bible, and a little boy, perhaps six years old. Both were in jackets and ties. A quick glance through the curtains of the front window revealed a woman and a little girl (maybe 7), standing in the driveway, just outside the field of view of the peephole. They were in their Sunday best too, and the woman had a stack of pamphlets and things.
