I’m supposed to be tall (5’9") but my friends are almost all taller than me…so I took to wearing at least 4" heels all the time many years ago.
I do notice once in a while that some people are shorter than me…but I’m too focused on the taller ones to notice. 
I am only 5’5" – I achieved this towering height quite early, maybe around 12 or 13 (my puberty started a bit early). I was never the tallest person in my class, but I was one of the “bigger ones” for a brief period. Then everybody shot past me!
I remember reading that, occasionally, guys can have a growth spurt even into their late teens, so I did hold on to that dim hope for awhile! Ha!
Overall, I am pretty satisfied with the way I turned out, but it would be nice to be a bit taller!
What airline do you fly? I’ve almost always been able to get exit rows in the past, but this year, the airlines seem to have all switched to charging $50 to $100 for the “premium” seats, which includes exit rows.
The sneaky bastards at the airlines have managed to raise fares pretty significantly while still crowing about having them lower. Pay for checking bags, pay for the exit row, pay for the snacks…
My experience exactly. In my eighth grade class picture, I’m one of the tallest boys. By the tenth grade, I was definitely below average height. I quit football for this very reason – I wasn’t good enough to play against people that much bigger than me.
I am 5’2". I hit this height when I was ten so I had a good 2 years as the tallest in my class. I didn’t enjoy being taller than everyone. Now that I’m shorter than almost everyone I know, I still remember what it was like to be the tallest. I sometimes wish I were taller but I am glad I don’t tower over anyone. I generally enjoy being short. However, I don’t like the fact that my 11-year-old nephew is almost taller than I am.
Heh, Mr. S is 5’6" and I’m 5’7", so which one of us is “taller” at any particular moment pretty much depends on what kind of shoes we’re wearing. But I have proportionally longer arms and legs, so I can reach much higher than he can. So I’m the one who gets stuff off high shelves without getting a chair.
Another time we were goofing around while walking to the car in a parking lot, and he held the car keys up over his head as if to keep them away from me. I just reached up and took them. 
I am 5’ 11" and consider myself to be of average heighth. Last Sunday my grand daugther walked up to me and looked at me almost eye to eye. She noted I had shoes on and she was bare foot. She is only 12 years old. An official measurement later set her current heighth at 5’10¼". We also measured her twin sister, she came in at exactly 5’7". The shorter of the two did note she has bigger boobs though.
