They really should hire some decent writers for Star Wars:The Clone Wars

In which, it should be noted, I completely failed to predict Ahsoka’s fate.

I thought the ending was pretty good. There wasn’t any particularly good, kid friendly way to end the Ashoka arc. So having her leave the Order and ride off into the sunset to an unknown fate seems a decent finale.

Clone Wars wasn’t terribly kid-friendly in the first place. At least two padawans have died on screen long ere this, and the series’ best overall arc – the Umbara story – is far from gentle to little minds. Add to that the fact that there’s only two or three unambiguous good guys in the story (Ahsoka, Padme, and maybe Rex). The ending accomplished what I wanted to happen–making it possible to imagine that Ahsoka got the fuck out of Dodge in time to live to a ripe old age.

This is going to be her name in my head from now on.

Sweetums I don’t think you’re an idiot for liking the show. It had some very strong and entertaining episodes. The arc where Deathwatch stages the coup against Obi-wan’s girlfriend’s hippy bullshit regime was demonstrably fantastic television.

But the show also had plenty of weak points. I think the main problems were that the show was constrained by both attempting to be kid-friendly (when the subject matter was anything but kid-friendly) and by the shortcomings of the prequel movies. Ultimately, I appreciate that the show proved that new Star Wars projects can be awesome, if handled properly.

Aren’t there going to be a couple more new episodes? Or did I misunderstand the creator in the video?

I wish I could claim credit. I think it was coined by the Washington Post’s TV critic.
