They showed me on TV!

I got some screen time on the 11 0’clock news Friday night here in the Bay Area; the station sent a crew to do a story on the Cirque du Soleil, where I was working a temp gig as manual labor. I was working (in vain) trying to nail down a section of the bleachers. I knew the cameraman was pointing his camera at me, and I admittedly tried to angle my face a little bit toward him so that I’d be a more likely candidate for making the broadcast.

But I didn’t see it! My TV was malfunctioning that night, and even if that hadn’t been the case, I sacked out long before the news came on (manual labor is awfully taxing on a guy who isn’t used to doing it). So I’m going to call the station, see if they’ll give me a tape.

As if the princely $9 an hour I was earning wasn’t sufficient compensation, now this!

Can I, um, have yer autograph?

I dunno … my autographs are pretty costly.

How much would a handshake cost? A photograph? A phone call? How about a lock of your hair?

They never remember you after they become famous.

:frowning:

Well, since I shave my head, I don’t exactly have any “locks” to give away. I suppose you could have some stubble. Let’s talk … I think we can arrange a payment plan.

Holy crap, that was my 2000th post up there.

So if you didn’t see it, how do you know they showed you?

I had to laugh when MeanOldLady asked for a lock of hair.

Someone at the Cirque du Soleil site told me the next day. And another friend of mine said she recognized me (and I hadn’t even said anything to her about it).
