Latin, on the other hand, is perfectly :dubious: cool with pluperfect subjunctives, both active and passive, not that I can remember an example this long after my shaky O-level pass.

Thats kind of funny, considering that I find this board of higher standards chock full of gasbag pundits who slam Bushistas and Repugs all day.
But the key element is that such pundits don’t go unchallenged. If one’s Bush-bashing becomes too repetitive or ridiculous, one can expect to receive general ridicule or even moderator action. Compare that to other boards where scapegoating is routine and universally supported, i.e. where a thread about “damn lib’ruls” or “Bush is a moron” will invite nothing but cheers of support and anyone who challenges the mob with a few unpopular counter-arguments will be insulted and/or banned.
