Things I (we?) should buy in the MMP

Howdy Y’all! Duty got done and we were bears who brunch at Eggs Up. shoe the dish is called crab cakes Benedict, thus tasty traitorous crabs. We decided to do a little ramble afterwards. Not too far cause gas prices, but ‘twas nice to get out in the country for a bit. We rode out around the [Chickasawhatchee Swamp] as(Chickasawhatchee – A Beautifully Wild Place – Georgia Wildlife Blog) as we hadn’t been out that way in a while. The rest of the day has been spent in high sloth as is our wont. It’s rainin’ now and hopefully will through the night.

Taters great news about your mom bein’ moved to a SNF that’s so close by.

MOOOOOOM ain’t kiddie plays just the best! Also glad Otis is back to himself.

Mollie that recipe looks good. It shall be filed for later use.

I forgot to mention that it’s rainin’. I know how all important it is to report the local weather. Even better it’s rainin’ in southeast Jawja where it’s badly needed due to the wildfires.

Can’t speak to the bialys, but their bagels are excellent.

Evening all. Gym has been gymed, but despite the exercise and watching my calories, the traitorous scale there says I haven’t lost any weight this week. Not planning on fasting, mind you, but will try to cut down on the snackage and my Pepsi intake, would like to get back to about 200lbs. Tomorrow will be soccer so that should keep me busy and out of the house and away from temptation for much of the day…as long as the ice cream truck doesn’t come by…

doggio, yeah, from the unique to the mundane on the painting. And another recommendation for Eggs Up, good stuff there.

I never was much of a runner, I can get the treadmill up to about 3.7mph and that’s about my limit.

VanGo, use the useful and s***can the non-useful.

swampy, so you went rambling in a swamp…sounds logical to me…

And getting close to 8pm, so need to get a couple things done and then off to bed since soccer starts at 8am.

Waves. Still alive, still stitching, still reading but fingers don’t like the keyboard when there is a threaded needle around.

So a while back, I ordered a bird feeder pole with four hangers. Those sort of things come in sections so tend to wobble. I know this because I had one at our last place as well, but it was in the backyard and he only went out there to deal with the trash.

This pole is in the front yard and he sees it all the time. I’ve watched him try to straighten it out daily and he even took a level to it which worked nicely for about a day. I finally agreed that we could go to Lowes and pay a whole lot of money for a not-wobbly pole but he couldn’t find any with four hangers.

Today he went out and bought a 5 ft length of PVC pipe, put it over the pole and used the same rattle can of black paint on them both. This stabilized the pole and looked nice.

Then a cardinal perched on the top of the pole and pooped on it.

Finished product. Nothing fancy, but easy, yummy and filling.

Up from naptime. Having a Royal Hawaiin, tequila line Jalapeno catfish, cilantro lime rice, and roasted corn and cumin for dinner. Watching NCIS.

[Sir David Attenborough]Here we see the Southwest PhD candidate sipping fermented necter and watching me.[/Sir David Attenborough]

Bird or Catholic?

Best kind of food.

Sometimes there’s something to be said about doing a “project dinner” like a moussaka or a roast and Yorkshire Pudding.

Well, there went my beautiful dreams of getting out before it got dark. Monkey is now running around in his glow-in-the-dark jacket, cuz it IS a pleasant night.

I gave one of the teenagers a ride home tonight, and even she had dismayed/disbelieving comments when we passed a gas station & she saw the pump prices.

When the economy is so bad a rather self-entitled teen with no skin in the game (no car) is like, “Woah, dang!” you know you done messed up, son.

Not gonna spill the tea?

A thoroughly worthwhile way to spend one’s time.

I’ve frequently said if you ever see me running … you probably should, too.

I especially like the idea of fried tortilla strips, instead of the labor of rolling 'em. Plus, crunchy!

I LOL’d.

After dropping her off, I stopped on a whim for the 1st time at a tiny store near the teenager’s house that turned out to be the most interesting combo of corner/convenience store, full-blown liquor store, and fresh deli with various chilled items.

I’ve never in my life bought whiskey and Polish roses at the same stop - and cooed at a very cute toddler AND joked with the friendly proprietor about getting out from :pizza: “early” tonight - so it was a worthwhile pause on my drive home.

Debated getting a small cup of fresh pasta salad, didn’t, and am regretting it. Ah well, Ms. Teen is gonna need a ride again soon, I’m sure. Next time.

I didn’t know what Polish roses were when I moved to the Midwest, and was promptly schooled; a sprig of green onion & a healthy schmear of cream cheese, all rolled up in ham or roast beef sliced thin. I bought a whopping two tonight for a quick after-work snack.

After encountering them for the 1st time here, I polled every Polish person I or my mom knew - which was a substantial data set, across several age groups - and 100% of my survey sample had never heard of them. (“Sounds tasty, though.”)

Okay, time for snax, booze, and some Devil’s Lettuce.

If you see me running, give me a hit on whatever it is that you’re smokin’.

I got out the new-to-me printer to hook up tonight. The box was for the printer / copier / scanner I wanted. What was inside was a simple B&W printer. Twenty dollars down the drain. It will serve to remind me the next time to check inside the box before I hand over the cash.

Sharing a bowl of popcorn with Nelson. He’ll want to be a lap baby after, like he does after most meals and snacks.

And now, I’m going to have to murder Squeaky. The spot that opened up on the NC State Engineering camp was not his first choice, so I asked him if this was the camp he wanted to attend. He said yes. I waited a couple of days, and his mother and I asked again if he would like to attend this particular camp (medical engineering versus aerospace engineering) he said yes. So I dropped a couple of thousands bucks so he could attend this camp. Now he is denying that he said that he wanted to attend this camp.

Unfortunately for me, I told him that I was going to have to kill him in front of his brother and mother. I know Mrs Magill has my back, and while Spike has sworn secrecy, two witnesses are too many.

Oh damnit. Now I just announced my horrible plans in front of you all. I don’t have time for this logistical nightmare of witnesses elimination. Can I at least get a pinky swear?

Disclaimer: The above is a joke. I currently have no plans to murder my son, no matter how much he deserves it.

Oh, he’s going to that camp.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s 54 degrees Ferret Height(12.222 Centipedes). It’s my Firday!

He deserves a fate worse than death: Being seen in public with his parents.

Thank you! Looks yummy and looks like it will go well with tequila.

I signed up for the postcard exchange, have a Dutch Baby baking in the oven, and now I’m posting to MMP. Tell Discourse, that’s the kind of badges we should have.

Today we’re going to see how the railroad bridge work is going (they are removing the last of three spans to get new rust protection, and putting in the temporary span), grocery shopping (didn’t go last night because the sky looked like it was going to pour) and then getting studying, because I have an exam in two weeks.

Trying to get myself motivated to study is difficult. But I have my work laptop, so that should help me get in the mood.

And there goes the oven timer. Time for breakfast!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 63 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 76 with rain to start late mornin’. A good day to be inside and dry. Thus we shall be our usual RDOS sloth selves. Sup (or whenever we decide to eat) will be various leftovers as they need to be eaten before they become science experiments.

Mollie Squeaky deserves for Mrs. Magill and you to show up at his irkplace and embarrass him by takin’ videos of “our precious baby boy at work” and fawnin’ all over him. He will then beg you to murder him.

shoe Polish roses do sound tasty. I may experiment on a home grown version.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 17c/62f with a predicted high of 18c/63f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Imagine if you were fucking riding a horse, and all it wanted to do was eat grass. That’s like this fucking weather. Fucking boring.”

Oh, he is going to that camp even if the combined force of the MMP has to give him The Look first!

Swampy is pretty good at motivations pep talks where there’s studying to be done.

Yesterday evening was fun, dinner at The Ivy was nice but nothing spectacular. Afterwards we made our way to Merlin’s Café and met up with the guys from the band we’d gone to see. That is one weird bar, even by my standards! Music was good and fun was had. We got a train back to our home station and 'im indoors decided he wasn’t ready to go home so I got a cab back to the house, and he went to the Giff. Just a couple of drinks, he said…and rolled in around 3am

I was up early today, went to the gym for my 8am session with Amrit, then did 20 minutes on the treadmill to cool off a bit, then had 10 minutes on the massage bed. I stopped off to get petrol on the way back, called in at the supermarket to get some packaged ham for the cats because it’s what they have as a treat, and stuck my head into the café. My pub friend works in there and happened to be in today so I had a chat with her and caught up on her partner’s recovery. He had surgery for a large hernia during the week and is back home to recover. Sounds like his surgery went well, and he only had to stay in for 36hrs. He goes back to have the drain removed next week and should feel a lot more comfortable after that.

I’m back home now, had some restorative tea, 'im indoors has just surfaced so I’ll make him a drink and see what he wants to do with the rest of the day.

Popping in to say I’m alive. Surgery went OK, but the pain level is worse than I’d anticipated. That’s all I’ll say about that. The customer service rep for the device came in to talk to me before surgery. For awhile, I wasn’t sure if I was getting an implant or a time-share in Boca Raton.

My daughter has been wonderful. My son is driving up today and spending the night. On Thursday I received a box from Spoonful of Comfort–chicken noodle soup, rolls, cookies, and a ladle, compliments of my sibs. My heart is full.

My daughter walked Sir Charles yesterday. He was VERY excited to see her. She brought him over for a visit. Dog therapy!

Will be back once I’ve caught up on the MMP. First, I get to shower!

Can’t believe I didn’t update last night - sorry for worrying everyone. Surely you fretted over my absence, right?

Right??

First, {{{nellie}}} glad the surgery was OK and I hope the pain diminishes soon. I’ve seen ads for Spoonful of Comfort - do report on it, please!

Second, the day is starting with 54 Ferrets, headed to mid-70s and possible t-boomers later. We’re going to clear the boat of tools and miscellaneous detritus ahead of a day on the water tomorrow with the grands (and Daughter, SIL has to work.)

Third, I had a busy yesterday. Along with 4 loads of laundry, I rollsucked up enough hair to build another dog, ran a damp mop over the kitchen floor to clean up the evidence of drip and drool spots that Otis spread about, and then mowed the front and back yards! We went to Salsa’s for supper and I decided to try their veggie quesadilla - quite yum. Then we met with Daughter & SIL to effect the transfer of Tobias to us since they were taking Roxy to some sort of evaluation session (I didn’t get all the details.)

Once home, the lad helped me water my flower boxes out front. Then we took a walk and he ran “super fast” to show me he could. And back at the house again, we played cards, then he sat on my lap to watch some TV till his family came to retrieve him. I crashed early and woke to a strangely disturbing dream. I have since breakfasted and started the ice maker.

Otis is definitely back to normal. He was trying to eat my hands last night and he’s snarfing down his food as usual. Ziva wandered out earlier and ate some treats. FCD is up and dressed, so I guess I’ll need to head to the shower soon. And so our day begins.

Happy Saturday!!

I will hope for decreasing pain, nellie.

Good morning, everyone.

It’s 49F and partly cloudy. Our daytime high should be around 70F, but it’ll remain partly to mostly cloudy all day, with a spot of drizzle here and there this morning.

Nellie, I’m glad the surgery went well, but I’m sorry you’re still in pain. I hope it abates soon. I, too, am also interested on the review of Spoonful of Comfort.

The collective MMP Look should scare the pants off of Squeaky, Mollie. He is going to that camp.

JtC, I got my bird feeder stand and arms from Wild Birds Unlimited. It’s very sturdy, and now holds up heavy plant baskets since I can’t feed the birds anymore. But I’m glad you found a solution that works.

I went to visit my mother yesterday; she was definitely more lucid, but the memory thing is still there. I spent a couple of hours visiting with her, then drove to her house to pick up the mail and check inside to make sure all was well. Other than the lawn needing a serious mowing and a microwave that is way past its prime, all was well. She was not released to SNF yesterday; it may be tomorrow or Sunday, or whenever her white count is back to normal. The doc is very concerned about that. She’s still hooked up to IV antibiotics, too.

I’ll probably head out there later this morning for an hour or so, but stop at the German deli to pick up some German magazines first. I’ll probably go there first thing tomorrow, too, since we’re heading back down to Olympia late morning to visit my son. He’s invited us down for Mother’s Day.

I didn’t get to stop by the nursery store yesterday, so maybe today. Who knows. I need to keep my plans loose, because they keep changing anyway.

You all take care, please.
