Things I (we?) should buy in the MMP

Up from naptime. Watching hockey. I’m having Smoked Paprika chicken, cheesy potato wedges, and green beans for dinner. And a Monte Cassino for cocktails.

Yay?

Does he have a favorite?

Breaded chicken breasts with lemon and capers for dinner, yum. I am resting, slightly bored, slightly sore with an icepack on my abdomen. A 2’x3’-ish indoor/outdoor mat for our front porch has arrived and looks good. Tomorrow morning is my last Flagyl, and I’m glad. It tastes terrible.

That would have to be an HP, hands down!

Sounds like our shoe is pretty smitten already!

Hey everyone, I just figured out that in a few hours David Attenborough will be too old to play with LEGOs. (They are for ages 4-99)

Not much has been happening here, I’m working a tricky piece and just love falling into a hyper-focused state so I don’t fight it.

The fuzzbutts are enjoying spring a lot. Now is the time that mama birds have begging babies following them around with much noise and action. I’m enjoying watching my posies grow and am already planning for next spring. (More Columbines!)

I’ve been reading, just haven’t been able to keep my hands on the keyboard long enough to reply to everyone, so lets see if I can get past three people before the needle starts screaming for me again.

I remember trying to give that to a cat once. Well, twice, the cat didn’t know how horrible it was going to be the first time. There wasn’t a third time.

I’m glad you are done with it and recovering well.

I actually knew all of that just with your name for him (except the job). Am I right that he wears loafers with tassels for his prancing?

I used to have a small hammer with screw drivers in the handle. I carried it around from job to job until it got lost in a move. I should replace that, I didn’t use it often but it sure was handy to have it when I needed it for a quick job.

I do have to agree, he sure is!

And I need to recount that last row, I’ll try to catch up better tomorrow. Have great evenings everyone.

No, the Canon Pixma TS6400. Very poorly engineered and to scan, you have to send the !@#$ thing to your phone. I spent $20 on another Pixma MG2522.

Moooooom, Tobias is absolutely adorbs!

I got mine to scan and print with my PC. But I am a Technomage.

Gym was pretty much a repeat of yesterday, there from 5:30-7:30pm and also did my Firday shopping tonight as the contractors will be back early on Firday to finish the work. Left some windows open to air out the house and have to remember to close them as it’s 54F now and getting a bit chilly here. Otherwise a quiet and non-stormy day and more of the same tomorrow.

FCM, glad Otis got diagnosed and looks like the treatment is working. On the other hand, a dog with a lot of internal gas isn’t necessarily someone to spend time with… And a lovely Toby-pic, quite the outfit.

JtC, keep on needling; you deserve some me-time.

And off to Sumberland I will go. House should be free of working folks by tomorrow afternoon and I can let my budget begin to recover, between electrical, plumbing, overseas vacation and house repair (from the plumbing), it has taken more than a few hits the past couple of months. So I can begin thinking about other things that need doing…

Take care all.

Did you have issues with the bottom tray too? Given my space restrictions, I went for one that had that and it doesn’t function very well (reading reviews after the fact, it’s the #1 complaint). It also doesn’t play well with my photo editing software.

I took a rusty chainsaw to trimmed Nelson’s front nails tonight. He squirmed, but not too much and got one of the special treats as a reward.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 50 degrees Ferret Height(10.000 Centipedes).

Haven’t used it yet.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 65 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 75 and cloudy for the day. TWPTB say that rain will move in overnight and be with us the next three days. We shall see. It is needed, especially in southeast Jawja where the wildfires are. The big item on today’s agenda is to deal with candle and other duties over to the church house. OYKW will go with me and afterward we shall be bears who brunch at Eggs Up. I am in the mood for some of their traitorous crabs. That will take care of the main need to feed today as well. The rest of the day will be spent in RDOS inactivities as is our wont.

Now I need more caffeine and need to eat a little sump’n so’s I can take meds. Then I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Le sigh.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 13c/55f with a predicted high of 16c/60f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “This is fucking marathon weather. Except running fucking sucks.”

Fingers and paws crossed for Otis, hope it’s nothing serious.

(({{{{{Taters}}}}}** I think you are doing the right thing getting her assessed properly. I’m also glad that she’s staying in hospital for a while so that you have time to process what’s going on, and take care of yourself too. Hopefully good news for Zeus too!

It’s always the way, isn’t it? You spend a fortune at the vets and then they’re perfectly fine as soon as they get home. I’m glad he’s eating again, and perhaps it was the unpleasant experience that made him realise he needed to start acting normally again!

Yesterday was an uneventful day, and the journey home was quite peaceful. I got out of work a few minutes early so I caught an earlier train back to my home station. There had been a freight train derailment just north of us which affected other services but also meant that the train I caught was only going as far as my station instead of all the way towards Wales. I made chicken curry for dinner, and it was yummerific.

Today I had planned to log in and check the inboxes before going off for a leisurely shower (working at home, no need to panic!) but I found a string of emails and messages about a problem with our virtual learning platform. It’s owned by a US company and had been subject to a cyber attack earlier in the week which had affected some of the functions in the system. Today we were told that they had removed worldwide access to the entire thing for an unspecified length of time. Cue student panic!!

The platform’s access has been restored now, but we’ve had conflicting information about what to do for assignments due in today. Our deadline is midday, so far we’ve been told that today’s deadlines will move to 5pm next Wednesday. This has been publicised to students, it’s gone out on the uni’s intranet and apparently there have been emails sent from central sources. Now we’re being told that we should not be changing any of our portal deadlines yet, despite it being public knowledge that they’ve moved to next week. Apparently this is because it hasn’t been agreed by our College, except it’s already been agreed further up at institutional level. Honestly, it’s as much use as a feckin’ Reform-led council.

Only 42 Ferrets to start the day??? It’s May, dammit!! I am not at all content. Forecast says low 70s this afternoon - we shall see.

Big item today is Roxy’s school play at 9:30 this morning. Worst part of that is parking. Being an elementary school, there’s no need for a big parking lot, and its location is tucked away off the main road, so getting in and out is a challenge. Plus we’re going in separate vehicles so FCD can go to the boat and I can go to Aldi after. Still, kids’ programs at this age (7-8) are usually a hoot. And Roxy has a line - I suspect most kids have a line.

Once I make a quick dash into Aldi, it’ll be time for laundry. Between loads, I’ll pull weeds, so there’s that to look forward to. Then Daughter needs me to corral Tobias for a couple of hours tonight while they take Roxy somewhere.

Otis had 2 servings of the chicken and rice last night - spaced a few hours apart, so as not to overload his system. He seemed to pretty much be his old self, tho he did lie around more than normal. The vet asked about his poops and we have absolutely no idea - dunno where he poops apart from it not being in the house or near the house. We guess he “fertilizes” the woods.

We finally weighed him - 70# - he was 56# when we took him in last Sept. He’s a good healthy weight I think, but definitely not full-blooded wolfhound as their adult weight is over 100#. I’m too frugal to pay for a doggie DNA test, but I’m willing to bet he’s part wolfhound and part lab. But mostly shedding machine!

Anyway, Happy Firday, all!!

Morning all. Turned out I was up and active by 6am so could have done my Firday shopping this morning, but instead could enjoy a leisurely breakfast, which was nice too. Cool again, 53F heading to 74F, but no chance of rain today and a 1-in-7 chance tomorrow according to the weather wizards. Contractors should be here in an hour so need to move my car for them. They should be done today and my bank account will show it.

red, my Brother printer/scanner has a bottom paper tray and it can be a pain to change/fill, but that’s mostly due to the clutter on my desk.

boo fae, ah, the worldwide network…screwing things up on a continental basis. But sounds like the folks at the college aren’t talking to each other. Crazy world.

FCM, fingers crossed for both Roxy and the parking.

And need to move car out of the driveway and do a few other things, so take care and have a good Firday.

This morning’s feed was a portion of chicken and rice with half a scoop of kibbles and an antibiotic dose. He ate it all and licked the bowl clean. Then he ate his dentastick and went outside. I think Otis is back to his usual self.

I’ll be leaving in a few minutes for the school. And so the day begins in earnest.

Its Friday, and thanks for that.

Saturday Night Fever DVDs and Blu-rays
Disco rehab! “Ah, ah, ah, ah, stayin’ alive!”

Egad, I might have pulled a muscle typing that. {{{Taters}}}

My legs woke me up early today, again. I think I’ll move my “bedtime” pill alarm to a later time.

I imagined the DNA test for FCMom’s wolfhound showing he’s descended from Czar Nicholas’s dog.

I made a strategic error last night. I was at a friend’s house playing Andromeda’s Edge until 1:30. I’m too old for that and not be completely useless the next day. I slept through walking and will skip yoga today. I know my balance will suck.

Dinner tonight will be a skillet enchilada thingy that everyone likes and is easy to do.

Squeaky has an AP test today and Monday, which kinda thwarts my plan to tell him and Spike tomorrow. I would rather he not be distracted during his AP exam Monday. Unfortunately, that means I won’t be able to present at tomorrow’s MTTA meeting, which makes me a little sad. It’s hard to describe the feeling when the person in the mirror more closely matches the person in my head. There is a weight that lifts. You go through your entire life bearing this load, and you’re not even aware of how much it exhausts you until it’s lifted.

Anyhow, that’s my mostly coherent thoughts for the day.

Swampy - We are trying. I’m lucky to have her with me.

FCM - Good to hear about Otis. Tell Roxy to break a leg!

Good morning.

It’s 49F and with just a few clouds. It’s expected to be cloudy with peeks of sunshine today, and the expected daytime high is 64F.

FCM, I’m glad to read that Otis seems to be back to normal. Polar was on the chicken and rice diet for the last three years of his life. Tobias is quite the cutie-pie!

BooFae, I hated it when the systems we had to use went down, and there was no clear instruction.

Nellie, I hope the surgery went well, and you’re as comfortable as can be expected.

I did not see my mother yesterday because I had chores to catch up on around the house. But I got the lawn mowed, edged, and weed whacked, got some of the plants transplanted, and caught the laundry up, too.

While I was mowing, I got a call from the discharge planner who was working on SNF placement. I gave her the top four we had chosen, and the fourth was the only one that had accepted my mother. However, upon hearing that our number one choice was directly across the parking lot from the hospital, she contacted them again. A person from there came out and assessed my mother, and they are going to accept her. She may be transferred today!

I thought she had to be completely off IV antibiotics, but the care person informed me that they can do that at the SNF, too. Also, my mother was very, very lucid yesterday, so maybe the infection and antibiotics impacted her to a greater degree than I thought.

At any rate, I’ll be heading out to the hospital (or SNF) later this morning to visit my mother and get caught up on things.

Depending on what time I leave the hospital/SNF, I’ll stop by a nursery on the way home. I need some more plants!

In Zeus’s news, he had a very good night on Wednesday, was very chill yesterday, and I spent a lot of time relaxing with my son. So, we’ll see what actually happens with him.

Alrighty, time to start my day. Please take care of yourselves!

My right knee has been getting worse (arthritis) over the past few years; to the point where I had to get an injection last Autumn. Since my blood pressure and cholesterol are very good, my PCP had said I didn’t need to take a daily Omega 3 or vitamin D capsule. It occurred to me that the pain became worse after I stopped taking those. For the past month or so, I’ve started taking them again. I’m also wearing kinesiology tape. My knee is much less painful.

If it was Canvas, it was a worldwide hack and ransom threat, not a cascading network FUBAR. I received what may be the ransom note or phishing attempts disguised as such, which I deleted without opening as, among other reasons, I’m retired, have no control over Canvas, and haven’t used it to teach a class in several years. The university has directed us not to open Canvas or attempt to change passwords, etc. and has it locked down.
