I’d open a subforum for all the banned posters - quite a few of them were not trocks.
I’d have a no-rules pit weekend, then commit all those posts to the cornfield. We did that once. (Well, it was due to a software issue, but still.)
I’d encourage the the mods to pick up their stakes and relocate elsewhere. Drop me a line, I’ve reserved a couple of domains.
The thing I’d most like to see is some way for us all to communicate to re-establish our colony on a different asteroid after this one hits some planet.
Ideally some kind of deadman’s switch so ahead of time those who wanted could opt in to having their email go public connected to their username, and if the site’s plug got pulled, that escrowed information would automatically be made available to all.
Or some other idea, but the punchline is a way for most of us to find each other again if SDMB blinked out of existence with no warning.

Isn’t that the reason the Giraffe Boards were set up? Are they still a thing?
IIRC GB was created out of some friction between TPTB here and former user Giraffe here. TPTB are still kinda touchy about any of us talking about the origin story, so I’ll stop right there.
But at one point when GB was well established and SDMB’s ownership was being batted around like a cat w a mouse, and with our mouse’s survival very much in doubt, many people talked about that being the post-shutdown reunion place if it became needed.
That was a bunch of years ago already, so anyone new here since then probably has no idea GB exists, nor of the nebulous connection between here and there.
