Things that go "HELP!!!!" in the night... my first MMP

Jah rant and rave on if you need to, ok? Us cool kids will listen and commiserate with you on what big ol’ poopyheads the folks that are making you sad are. That’s what we do.

MBG I had a good idea that that’s what a bus aide does, I was just bamboozled at the idea of somebody not gettin’ the hang of it. Some folks just can’t…anything I guess.

The talk went better than expected. I got a tearful “I don’t want to lose my job” speech to which I responded with the " that is not something I want to happen either but things will have to improve" speech. She left, I think, in better spirits. Who knows. I just want folks to do what they’re supposed to do, so I can do what I’m supposed to do and we can all live happily after. The End.

I’m up again. Work tonight, then up early to do the super truck tomorrow.

MBG, I had one idiot walk out on me 3 times in two different jobs(No, I didn’t hire her any of those times), then ask me for her job back. :smack:

Jahdra, I agree with Taters. Vent and think about it. You can always quit later. Could you talk to one of the other partners about it?

rigs, what about Olive, the other reindeer?

swampy, I agree. The best times in my life have involved beer, fire, and a pig.

Does anyone want to wrap my Christmas presents and mail the box? I hate mailing things. Post offices intimidate me.

Just a quick drive-by…

Quasi That sounds very much like a DVD I bought at Roth’s the other night for $3.99. Unfortunately, I got it as a stocking-stuffer for our son-in-law and Wifey has hidden it away somewhere so I can’t get the actual title off of it for you, but I think it was this one. IIRC, the cover said it had music as well as pictures.

I ship online through Canada Post’s website. Keeps me out of that damned post office. I hate standing in line six people back while the one currently being served is trying to figure out why their package hasn’t been delivered and what this tracking number business is. I hate lineups. This way I just walk in, plop my pile o’ packages on the counter, get someone’s attention long enough to point at the pile and mutter “prepaid” so they’re aware of its existence, and then walk out. And maybe smirk at the people at the back of the line.

I was going to ask you for a link, but on re-read, I’m not so sure you’re getting this on line, but if it’s from Germany…

So, um, link??

I’ll ask my spousal unit when he gets home, but I’d be surprised if he knew anything about it. His focus is on 3 or 4 projects and they seem to be all-consuming. But I’ll try to remember to post later either way.

One more day till vacation! YAY! And tomorrow, I get my performance review, fully expecting good news, since my pre-performance review was little more than Kevin telling me I done good and he couldn’t think of anything to tell me to improve. Of course, by that time, he was almost done being my boss, so it could have been attitude. Naaaaaah - attitude with me?? I think not! Well, except for the bear:stuck_out_tongue:

Nice surprise in today’s mail - our rebate on the AC/furnace came. It should more than cover our trek to FL with enough left over to throw a chunk on the credit card. So yay!

I have a cat on my shoulder. She’s such an attention whore. And that’s all I’ve got right now.

Because I worry that you all don’t get your minimum daily requirement of strange, I present to you…

The Precision Lawn Chair Marching Dads

Thanks, Swampy, I needed that!

I may not get back on until tomorrow - I may be spending the night with my friend who had the cardiac cath this morning. Everything went well - no blockages at all - so she should be released about 6 this evening. I’m packing an overnight bag because the doctor had said something about her not being by herself tonight.

How will I go all night without the Dope?

… I now have a new calling.

All the karma and good vibes you will earn by being such a good friend will more than make up for a night without the Dope Snakes. You’re a good friend.

For FCM: www.br-online.de/wissen-bildung/spacenight/

“Spacenight” is not on line, but a television program. The site is in German, though…

For Bumbazine: Thank you! I followed the link and wound up on amazon.com. This isn’t exactly what I meant, but it’s close, and I ordered it anyway.

For the rest of y’all (who may be interested), think of the spaceship scene in 2001 A Space Odyssey and the music which accompanied it, and you’ll have a rough idea of what the program is about. There are multiple DVD’s available in Germany, but are only playable in a German format.

What would be ideal is for the NASA channel to get re-broadcast rights for Space Night here in the US.

This would make me a very happy boy.

Thanks again

Quasi

OK, my GQ thread sand, so I’m asking all the Cool Kids: There is a way of folding 5 or 6 dollar bills to form a “shirt” - I know it can be done because my mother in law did it last year for her grandkids. I’m trying to find the plans and it’s too late to ask her to send them to me. Plus my inlaws are internet-impaired, so I won’t even pretend to ask her to email me directions.

Anyway, do any of you know how this is done? All my Googling has unearthed is money origami, which means making a “shirt” from a single dollar bill. That’s not what I want - I want the pattern that uses multiple bills. If you can tell me how to do this, I’ll be your friend forever!

But please, please, please, do not send me this link like everyone on my livejournal did. <and she waits for some wiseacre to send that link…>

The word is sank, not sand. And I even previewed! Sheesh.

I got both a bonus and a raise, all in the same week. And since I got the raise before the bonus, my bonus went up.

This place is nuts today. Me and about three other people are actually working with customers and such, while the rest are getting the building ready for tomorrow’s party. It’s a big annual thing, and we invite a lot of friends and customers to it. (I think I posted to the MMP last year duriong the party last year.) I haven’t had a chance to clean up my desk yet. So tomorrow, I’m not even turning on my email until my desk is clean.

I haven’t even had a chance to do more than browse the MMP the last two days. I hope things are better for you Jadhra. Let us know what’s going on.

Woohoo, Sean! Drinks on you tonight!

Quasi, as I expected, **FCD ** had no idea what I was talking about when I asked him your question. But he did say part of NASA’s charter is education and public outreach, so they could have something to do with it.

Dinner was leftovers. There are 2 pieces of pie left - they will be consumed later this evening. Then I guess I’ll have to bake again…

I only got a bonus. A low one because I haven’t been there quite long enough. (9 more months and I would’ve qualified for a bonus 3x the size. Hmpf) I’m also due for a raise, but it won’t be much (cost-of-living, about 2.5%) so no biggie there, and I can’t complain too much because I got a spontaneous, mid-term atta-boy raise last spring, which made two raises in less than a year. Did I mention I like my employers? I like my employers.

Well, second-last work day of the week is over with and I’m home making dinner – baked potatoes and tuna salad, and odd but tasty (and cheap) concoction MindWife introduced me to. She seems to be feeling a bit better if still a little queasy. This is good. She’s getting her appetite back. This is also good. Work was pretty laid back today, not too many things to deal with. My call monitor wasn’t working for some reason, despite the fact that everyone else’s was. That’s annoying 'cos I can’t see how many people are in the queue or who’s logged in or what. And yes, I toted my cell phone to and from work in my backpack. We’re not having any more incidents!

I LOVE the lawn chair thingy. Why can’t our parades around here be as interesting?

anyrose -do I win a prize? Anything?

Olive the reindeer is someone we don’t talk about, thankyouverymuch.

MBG -perhaps that bus aide needed to be on a short bus all of her own? The mind boggles…

I’m home for a brief moment before I need to take off again with my daughter and meet with her advisor at the high school.

We’re all waiting for the [B]BIGGEST WINDSTORM TO HIT IN A DECADE!!!** to well…hit. I guess trees are already going down south of us, in Olympia. We’ll see if it’s going to as big as all the hype it’s been given. Frankly, I hope not.

We have a Precision Lawn Mower Team at our annual Daffodil Parade. It’s kind of funny, actually.

Hope all the sickies are feeling better. Jahdra, do pop in and let us know how you’re doing.

Well, off to the thingie now.

:smack: :smack: Frack! My coding truly sucks some days.

Cookies and hot chocolate this afternoon, in our extremely noisy black granite lobby. I am very tired of Le Bou’s pastries. The hot chocolate was good, though.

No more tears this afternoon, but it is definitely time to get out of here. I will wait until January, though. I want my PTO accrual check to come out of the 2007 tax year, among other things. Plus, I want to make sure I get paid for both holidays.

The partner, BTW, would be mortified if he knew what he said made me cry, and that was not his intention at all. It’s still too hard to explain, lest I start crying again, but it’s been a long time coming. If that doesn’t make sense, well, it’s not terribly clear in my head yet either.
