Things that go "HELP!!!!" in the night... my first MMP

It’s hell cleaning bear fur out of a bus grille, so I figure you’re safe swampy, no bus driver will do anything that requires them to spend extra time cleaning the bus.
**
LOUNE** - trust me here - when the slaughter comes, I will be laughing.

::continuing sour mood::

Yeah but you got time to work yourself up to Shift Manager. That extra ten dollars a week will help contribute to my luxurious retirement. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks. It’s kind of skinny, though. I usually end up just sitting on the steps.

I really meant to take pictures in the sunlight this weekend to post, but only remembered (each day, no less) after the sun had set. So maybe I’ll get up earlier and take some before work, or just wait until the weekend.

I have no jokes or riddles this week, tasteless or otherwise.

Hey Sean, I don’t think I got that horrible joke last week. Can you send it this way? Email is in the profile.

I finally made it in here. Happy Monday, everyone! Great OP!!!

I had to fight rainy traffic to get to my dr appt this morning - I ended up being 10 minutes late. No great news, unfortunately. I’m still not clear, but it’s ok. I’ve still given my liver a break. Only 7 more weeks to go.

So I’ve been sitting around all day, watching TV and I took a nap. Pretty much useless. I’ll get off my butt and fix some pepper steak for dinner in a bit.

It is truly tactless and just awful. Be careful of what you ask for Spats.

Well, the apartment is manclean, but I’m still waiting on the washers. I think I’ll make me some fish

Spats, here is what happens when you mix cats and lizards.

Ok, as promised, I went back and found the birthday wishes. I was originally going to c&p them here, but so many people wished me I would have been taking up the whole thread! So instead - thank you all SO much for remembering my day. I am in awe of your mad formatting skillz.

And Drae - I may be 24 days older, but I think our maturity levek both is the same - around 5!

I managed to send 2 more pieces of ceramics to a couple of lucky recipients, and yet my dining room table is still covered and I have more pieces to pick up at the school. I’m going to inventory and pack what’s left for future craft sales.

I also baked a peach streusel pie - *someone * was whining for a pie. So it smells pie-rrific in here.

Our heating oil tank was filled today - 43 whole gallons - I LOVE my new, more efficient furnace.

That’s all I’ve got - gee, I’m kinda on the dull side tonight, huh?

Just got back from moving furniture. I got in contact with furniture moving guy at the very last minute, which was a blessing since it started raining while we were still moving the couch. But I got another couch for free - the people I was buying the first couch from wanted to get rid of it so badly they told me to just take it. Yay!

What to do for dinner tonight? I suppose having ramen two nights in a row is a bad idea? :dubious:

Didn’t plan to, but I just realized that I look rather like a lumberjack today. Probably because it’s chilly in here. On top of a green/blue flannel shirt, I’ve got a crimson red flannel shirt, and logger jeans. They’re like carpenter pants, but significantly heavier denim and with double thick chap fronts. Add to that boots and a beard that’s gone too far since trimming, and I look slightly out of place in an office.

No matter, the servers don’t care what I look like, most of my immediate co-workers are out of the office, and even my manager is several states away. I think one of these days, we need to have a pajama party here. Hmmm… I’d need to get some pajamas first.

Good wished heading in BiblioCat’s direction that they soon become one of Baltimore’s Bravest.

You posted all of that just for swampy, didn’t you, gotti?

Excellent OP, 2kboy. Although I think doggio’s Lucretia may be glaring at you as she was robbed of a chance to walk on his keyboard.

I will be ending each paragraph with a grin.

Or not.

Hi Mika! Of course we missed you! And welby, we were sure some of Ex’s posts would bring you out of the woodwork, but nooooooooooooooooo. Now he’s in hiding again, or so it appears. And, golly, LOUNE even stopped by. He’s also part of the retirement-fund providing group.

I’m going to drive down to Rue’s and obligate him to post here sometime soon! (Of course that would be easier to do if I actually knew where he lived…)

Hank, dear, degrees in humanities don’t guarantee a job that involves fries. I’m living proof of that. (Thank heavens! I’d be really bad at the fry-slinging thing.) And I know lots of others of us who are gainfully employed. So there! :stuck_out_tongue:

I wanna know where in Germany Nava is too. Most of my friends live near Stuttgart, but I also used to live in Berlin!

High-quality Cool Kid Vibes headed toward BibKitty! Let us know how everything went.

There was more, but I really need to go make some rum balls and get some Christmas cards started.

Sweetums - that’s a wonderful story - I was worried at first as I read it, dreading you’d stumbled on some kind of disaster or crime scene - but a new life in the world is always a good thing, no matter the circumstances

Jahdra, $650K in these parts get you at least 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms

regarding age - Cousin was born the same year as me, but 3 months earlier. Whenever she teases me about aging, I tell her “yeah, but no matter how old I get, you’ll always be older”
One of our quartets does a song that reminisces about all sorts of things from years gone by and sings “Do you remember? If you remember, then Dearie, you’re much older than I”

CKDV to BookKitty

WoofWaiter - that website has some DAYAM cute pics on it

I have to go to a wake tomorrow evening - a very dear coworker had a sudden heart attack over the weekend :frowning:

BUT on Wednesday, the guy (I really ought to come up with a decent nickname for him) is taking me to dinner (only at a diner, so there’s no pressure to be romantic) so that will cheer me up.

I finally got a washer! I’m watching the hockey game on Yahoo. Funny hockey story: A couple of years ago I was watching a game, and the teams were tied. I grabbed the cat, knelt in front of the TV, and yelled “I’ll sacrifice this cat for a goal!” We scored 2 seconds later. I told this story on the Hurricanes board this week, and I just noticed someone’s sig line: CATS! I NEED MORE CATS!

doggio, I hope you don’t wonder why Lucretia glares at you so. It’s the threatened sacrifices. (Wouldn’t you glare?)

I can’t believe my book group meets later this week and I’m not done with Gilead yet. Somehow, I seem to be unable to read books in a sustained manner lately. I can read all kinds of stuff on the net. And I can watch movies. But books - they’re taking too much energy - not a good sign. It’s a beautiful book, but hard to describe, and not a book you can just speed read through. I’ve borrowed it from the library, but I’m going to buy it just so I can read it slowly again and ponder some of the passages.

Now I’m sleepy.

But I’ve remember that I was going to tell JavaGirl that ramen two nights in a row is OK, as long as you’ve added different stuff to it. That makes it a different meal. Right? I don’t think I’ve had ramen since I was in grad school. Maybe a bit later than that, but not much.

There must be something in the air - I just got a coffee date thru my MySpace account (as opposed to all the twentysomethings who are only looking for “hookups”) He may be disappointed, tho - All my photos are from the neck up, on purpose. Whatever. I’ll go anyway. The Guy and I and I aren’t involved yet…

Hey that darn cat tried to sacrifice me first!

Anybody heard from Firekitty?

JavaGirl”? Oh! You mean Haze aka Hank aka 40 million other nicknames. :smack:
 I’m late for the Daily Show - see y’all in the morning.

BibKitty, congratulations on smoking that cigarette at 3 am, and being there!

Being an RT, I don’t usually congratulate folks for smoking, but I am no longer as altruistic as I once was, and I appreciate a story with a happy ending.

As a health care provider, you saw a need, and you responded.

Very commendable and thanks for sharing your touching story with us.

I just got back from being hit by a car.

It’s raining here tonight, so the roads are pretty slippery. I’m very careful about crossing roads, and doubly so when it’s raining, so as I was crossing the street to meet a friend for dinner, I carefully looked both ways before crossing (there were no traffic lights). When I was in the middle of the crosswalk, I instinctively turned to my right - just in time to see a pair of headlights rushing towards me. The car was making a left turn and apparently didn’t see me (I had a black umbrella, which might explain things). It hit me in the right thigh and knocked me to the ground. I was dazed, but not unconscious, and the next thing I knew I was surrounded by people including my friend, who’d witnessed the entire thing from across the street. I wanted to stand up but no one would let me. “Can you tell us what day it is?” someone asked, which struck me as hilarious because I probably would have had to think that one through regardless of whether I’d been hit by a car or not (I’m terrible with dates). My friends insisted on calling 911, but I was just as insistent that he didn’t - I felt fine, nothing was broken, and I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. I think it looked a lot worse from an observer’s perspective than it actually was for me - I mean, I was a bit shaken up, but other than that I was fine.

We ended up going to dinner and even having a drink afterwards. Now that I’m home, I see that I have a scraped knee and a sore right thigh (I will probably end up with a horrific bruise tomorrow morning). Thank God - it could have been so much worse.

Just thought I’d share my trauma. Again, I would like to emphasize that I am perfectly okay, so no worries. Certainly a much more exciting night than I’d planned on!
