I just would have asked her “Are you the doggy park police? Then show me your license or else fuck off.”
I told her that she can’t make random rules. That’s when she started yelling at me.
I have a CCW license (I do NOT carry though). And I’m not into threats.
I think this person really needs some help. The whole ‘conversation’ was her yelling at me that she can have the park to herself, and me going… ummm no.
Oh well, I forgot that standing for one’s individual rights can turn to gun violence in the US. I really never take that into account where I live.
It’s not necessarily gun violence specifically, but irrationally angry people do irrational things, up to and including regular violence, which is 100% not worth it for the right to spend a bit of time in the dog park.
Yeah. Both my wife and I have CCW. We took it for the training. Not the ability to carry. My wife needed it to continue training.
I’ve been shooting for 40 some years, but I understand that it’s good to get other actual professionals involved. I did train her, but someone with other ideas is always good.
But this is very important. When someone is yelling at you, and they are wrong, it’s best to just walk away. I’ve always known that, but the CCW class reinforced that idea.
couldn’t you take a picture of her to show your neighbor?
I tried, but the picture turned out too blurry.
I got a response from someone else on the board -
Good afternoon,
Thank you for reaching out and I apologize that you are dealing with this. There isn’t a rule on how many dogs are allowed. You can tell them that you checked with management and if they have an issue, they can reach out to us.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Sincerely,
So, this woman yells at me saying that it is the neighborly thing to do for her to have the community park all to herself when she wants to go. I can come later in the day. Did I mention that our days are running in the high 90s to 100 degrees? I don’t usually say this but what a ffeaking entitled bitch.
You really want to drive her crazy? Ignore her. Ghost her. Like she’s not there. Walk into the park with your dogs right past her squawking and start throwing a stick around. If she gets in your face, turn around and walk away. She’ll pop in about 30 seconds.
If your HOA has security, you can always invite her to call them and have you ejected. Or you can offer to call them on her behalf.
I go to the gym (PF) around 6:45 AM a few times a week. There is a group of people that’s frequently there, there are 6 or 7 total, usually 4 or so are there at the same time I go. They’re probably in mid 60s, I’m not sure if they’re retired and just get up that early, or if they’re exercising before work like I am. Anyway, they often have long conversations while one of them is occasionally doing a set on one of the machines. 20 minutes plus, I’ve timed them on numerous occasions. Which is bad enough, but plenty of other people hog a machine for a long time while they post on IG or whatever the hell they do besides actually exercising. But if the group gets big enough, they start leaning their arms/elbows, etc. on other machines surrounding the one that one of them is actually using. So you have to go up and interrupt and ask if they’re actually using the machine, and at least once the leaner seemed annoyed he’d actually have to stand up straight while yapping with his buddies. I’ve mentioned it to the staff, but they’re all friends with these people, so nothing was done. Next time I’m just going to loudly ask “Are you exercising something besides your jaw on that machine?” and see what kind of reaction that gets.
I’m in contact with our board for the subdivision (never thought I would say that). Anyway since I don’t really know this person other than her first name, I suggest they send out a mass email about dog park etiquette.
And hey, if you have unfriendly dogs, then you should leave, not me. I’ve two Boarder Collies that had 4k of professional training. If they had thumbs, they would run the house.
Nah, we don’t have anything like that.
A complaint, and why be mean? Older people need that social activity. Just say “Excuse me, I need to use this machine”, and go for it.
I’m curious why you even brought this up…
I wouldn’t do that. Pretty soon there’ll be all kinds of rules micromanaging dogs at the park, up to and including keeping them leashed.
She was yelling at me and it reminded of my CCW class about deescalating the situation. That’s why I brought that up. I’ve had training to deal with bad situations. I turned my back and left.
We already have good rules. I don’t think they will go farther. She is already breaking existing rules, and yelling at me when I didn’t break any rules. No, this needs to be addressed.
I’ve already walked away from this crazy person twice. It’s time to take a stand. I pay for this park through my taxes. I get to go. I follow the rules.
They could have the social activity without blocking machines they aren’t using. And to be clear, they’re maybe 5-10 years older than me, so I’m not going to treat them as some kind of revered elders. And as I stated above, I’ve gotten pushback/annoyance in the past when asking politely to use a machine that someone was leaning on while jabbering.
Last weekend at the gym, I saw a guy sitting on a machine, gabbing on his cell phone. He did this for upwards of ten minutes. My blood was boiling! I didn’t want the machine, but he was breaking the second most important rule of going to the gym and it was just so inconsiderate! I went to vent to my husband, but when I found him he was sitting on a machine fiddling with his phone. ![]()
(If you were wondering, the first most important gym rule is, don’t stare at people.)
I thought it was “clean your sweat off a machine when you’re done with it.” But yeah, I’ve essentially given up being annoyed at people who are sitting on a machine on their phones for a long time.
Here is a Headline that showed up twice in my feed- “'60s Legend, Who Wrote What Bob Dylan Called 'The Greatest song ever written turns 80.”.
Fucking clickbait.
Not “Jimmy Webb, who wrote 'Wichita Lineman” turns 80 ".
Hah, I had the same click bait article in my Google news feed. Given the sensationalist title, I even doubt that Dylan ever said that.
It infuriates me when I’m trying to buy something at the farmer’s market, but the people ahead of me in line are taking forever. For example, I go to the stall that sells cheese and eggs. I just want to get carton of eggs. But the people ahead of me are taking their time, sampling every variety of cheese, and asking a bunch of questions about the farm. I just want to pay for my eggs and go, but the vendor is busy helping those other people so I’m just stuck waiting behind them.
