Things that just make your day great

I’m having a fine day, but Roger Ebert just made me smile for the rest of the day.

He mentioned me on his Twitter account and responded enthusiastically to my comment on his blog. He’s responded before, but never cared enough to tweet something I said.

He tweeted a link about The Red Wheel by William Carlos Williams(it was his birthday yesterday).

Anyway, I pointed out to him that each stanza looks like a wheel barrow and he tweeted everyone about it.

I’m the “Brian F.” he mentions at the bottom of this picture.

You can see it here

You can see his original response about it here.
Not a high point of my life, but it does make my day.

What makes yours?
Yes, it’s hilarious that the top tweet on his account now is a quote from Russ Meyer about a girls bra.

Well, Brian, I for one think that’s pretty damn cool.
mmm

The thing that always makes my day is when I get to spend time with my granddaughter, who is now 8 months old.

When someone on the SDMB quotes me without calling me an idiot.

Don’t be a moron. We love you here.

Whenever I get to play with my five year old nephew it’s a great day. When he jumps up into my lap to show me his latest robot creation it makes me positively giddy.

Lots of things make my day great.

Talking to my best friend, even if it’s just for a few minutes. Even when I’m at my most depressed, she can put a smile on my face.

Finally figuring out how to repair something that’s been bugging me. Like taking a laptop that everyone wrote off as not working, and getting it back in near new condition for less than $20. (On an aside, IBM and their 1802 error can bite me. That’s an incredibly shitty thing to do to their customers.)

Cloudy/rainy days. I’m incredibly sensitive to sunlight, so any day that’s cloudy or rainy is a great day for me. (I burn after 15 minutes in direct sunlight, blister after 30, and get physically sick after an hour.)

Any day I get to play with my youngest sister and nieces. It’s so nice to return to childhood games like freeze tag, calvin ball, and hide’n’seek.

Any day I find a new book that interests me.

It always makes my day when one of my tweets gets picked up by a big twitterer. I tweet for work, from time to time we give away free coffee. When ever we do that I put it out on twitter. The coffee is from a local roaster and I found that if I @ their name, they (as well as several of their employees) will re-tweet it. That gets it out to a few thousand people and I almost always get new followers out of it.
Then, a few weeks ago I tweeted this picture of a Cranberry Walnut Carmel Apple I made. Someone called @WalnutLovers noticed and retweeted it.

I so agree. Looks like a cloudy, cool day here and I’m beyond thrilled.

Certain co-workers/friends. Take last Saturday- it could only be described as a “fun nightmare.” Everything went wrong, but we (the kitchen crew) were laughing all night long. We collectively decided that if it had been anyone other than the four of us, we would barely have been able to handle it without just walking out.

Being able to help someone. This semester, I’m working for my school in two different tutoring-type jobs and I love it when someone comes in for help and leaves with a better understanding of the subject. I love when someone is upset about something and feels better after talking to me. I love when someone has a problem and I have the solution.

This is lame, but having someone post on my facebook wall. I almost don’t care who it is or what it’s about (unless it’s someone bugging me about something). I get all, “eeeee I have a notification! Somebody loves me!”
