The most successful band of all time is (arguably) The Beatles. The most successful musical of all time is (arguably) Les Miz. And in recent years TV shows like Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones have become cultural icons. All of which prove that at least sometimes, people en masse have decent taste.
Well, there’s one for me right there. I loved that game.
My addition: The fact that The Melvins have been steadily getting more popular as time goes on, and there’s now a couple of generations of metal bands influenced by them. That’s no small feat for a band who doesn’t have pleasing the crowd at the top of their list of great and wonderful things to do.
The fact that The Winged Victory of Samothrace is loved universally, even though the sculptor is entirely unknown.
