Hey, **McUne ** - is it my imagination or have you been scarce lately 'round these parts? :: puppy dog eyes ::
I’ll probably make those French-puff-butter-cinnamon-heart-attacks sometime next week. I have a friend staying over starting tomorrow with whom I have an odd relationship, and for some reason I always feel the need to impress her with domestic angel skills. :smack: Not that she’s snotty or judgemental or anything. She’s a perfectly nice girl, but somehow manages to give off a “princess” vibe, for the lack of a better word.
I’m hoping this weekend helps us bond a bit, because we have two very close mutual friends (Scottish Darling and Captain Cheekbones, who’s dating Princess at the moment) but for some reason the two of US have never really clicked.
rosie, I’ve seen that picture before, but it makes me smile every time.
I just think it’s weird that Auto would open a thread like that on the SDMB - the reponses to such questions around here are rather predictable, as you most accurately pointed out.
Gingerbread cookie dough are in fridge. Cigarette, lunch, then Christmas cookies. And then finishing up final grades. Ew.
Haze, yes, I’ve been scarce around here. I’ve got a lot going on right now, and even though I’ve been reading, just haven’t felt like posting. That’s all.
Oh, and I attempted self-pics of my new glasses to post on my blog. My new glasses!!
Whew! I just caught up again. Hugs as needed although they seem less needed today than yesterday.
Our Marketing dept pot luck today was great. The admin made an awesome rum cake. YUM! And everyone loved the chocolate raspberry torte. (Recipe courtesy of Kraft… search on double chocolate torte if you want it.) I don’t think I’m going to need dinner. Besides, a coworker invited us to her party tonight. And we’re going to a different coworker’s party tomorrow night. It’s a crazy time of year!
I really like making cakes though. Now I don’t have an excuse to make another cake for a month. Anyone want a cake?
LOVE the glow in the dark kittens. I showed them to one of my kitty-loving coworkers who also thought it was hysterical.
Mork, I can provide sql help if you need it. That’s what I do all day. (Ok, well most of the day. Or some of the day. Some days. The point is, I know it quite well.)
Good luck finding a car seat, LiLi. It doesn’t seem like it should be that hard.
A family friend announced in her Christmas letter that she’s expecting a baby in May. So I get to knit up another baby blanket! Yay!
Those muffins sound nummy and not all that hard to make. I might have to get all nice and stuff and make a batch.
JoeDawg has been returned to the sofa for another round of sofa time following mandatory sitting in lap and getting skritches. I can tell the strict regimen is taking it’s toll but discipline must be maintained.
I’ve had an earworm today. Well, sorta. The kind where there’s this song and you almost know what it is but can’t quite place it, but the tune is just kinda stuck in the haid earworm. About fifteen minutes ago it finally hit me what the song is. It’s a hymn, of all things, Christ Is The World’s True Light. I have no idea why it got stuck roamin’ around inside my haid but now that I’ve thought of the name, it’s gone away. YAY!!!
Sean that’s pretty jake. Especially for a middle aged white guy.
A cigarette lunch sounds terrible! At least have some food and then a cig…
Love the twisted Xmas pic of anyrose–she looks mad, as in bats in bellfry in that pic, no? But happily mad, if you follow.
I have good news and bad news:
The good news: I have to work tomorrow–and it’s a full 8 hours. It will help make up for the 2 days I missed this week.
The bad news: I have to work tomorrow–and it’s a full 8 hours, plus I have to work with this witch in recovery. Most of recovery nurses are nice–this one’s a PITA. Also, I don’t have an aide tomorrow–I have the unit secretary, who can spin out stapling to be a 3 hour task…
We have Yuengling beer this year at our party here at Technical Thingies, Inc. And a band lined up for a little later. Here’s me with the cartoonswampbear said reminded him of me.
Papa Tigs paid his entrance fee – he brought me home a piece of homemade tiramisu and a piece of homemade pecan pie after today’s work potluck. So he was allowed to enter the house.
Fun pics! And hey, there, Sean! How you doin’?
I worked and worked today…and still have a LOT of work left on this idiot job. Why people wait till the last minute to order a monster job rush is beyond me. But I give up. I decided a couple hours ago that I couldn’t finish it before COB, so I quit for a while. I’ll probably finish it up this evening or tomorrow morning, but in the meantime, I really do not give a rat’s patooty.
Papa Tigs took the Idiots off for a play session and a quick shopping trip. And then called me to tell me that the Idiots’ education was furthered: A guy was out with his black lab in heat. Off leash. :smack: Fortunately, our guys are both too dumb to know what to do about it; Rusty was interested, but not enough to actually attempt anything. Who takes their dog in heat out in public off leash, though? :smack:
swampbear said that one of my pictures was pretty jake for a middle aged white guy.
So I thought I’d put that into the picture, just show that I’m in real time here.
Middle Aged White Guy. Either that or [Space Balls] I’m a mawg - half man, half dawg. I’m my own best friend![/SB]
The Crossfire is officially ours (and the credit union’s) - we drove over to pay for it and I signed a gazillion papers. As I expected, I don’t much like it - it’s not very comfortable for me. But **FCD ** is happy, and it’s just a car, right?
We stopped for BBQ after at a *verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry * good local joint. Definitely worthy of a revisit.
Plans for the weekend - trash and recycling run tomorrow. Clay time. Laundry. Gift wrapping. Oh yes, I know you want to be me…
