Lik-M-Aid/Fun Dip.
It doesn’t even sound appealing anymore, but I can remember eating those after softball games. Ah, concession stand food! Lots of sugary goodness.
Scrapple
Miracle Whip
Margarine
Pork chops
Mayonnaise sandwiches. Yep, just mayo on fluffy white bread.
“Dippy” eggs (you know, where the egg is fried, and the yolk left runny for dipping your toast…)
Black jelly beans
Sen-sen
I’m sure there’s more…
The only food I can think of that I hate now but loved as a kid is liverwurst. I used to squeeze tiny bits out of the tube onto my hand, or make it into sandwiches with mayo.
One food I used to like but can’t eat now is milk (unless it’s in oatmeal or other cereal with sugar - maybe that counteracts the lactose somewhat) and most other dairy- somewhere along the way, I realized I’m lactose intolerant. God, I miss chocolate milk.
Now there’s an advertising slogan!
And glad I could enlighten you about the evils of the Jim that is Slim.
Holy shit!!! what a disgusting combo.
My own intense dislike is Golden Syrup and I used to scoff it by the spoonful as a kid, now the mere thought of it makes me feel ill
I was skimming quickly through this & thought “now, who’d be spelling ‘Banshees’ the old Gaelic way? Did WhyNot write this?”

I used to eat ketchup and mustard sandwiches on white bread. No meat, no cheese, no veggies - just ketchup on one slice and yellow mustard on the other. Also, I used to love fried bologna sandwiches - on white bread with ketchup. Blech.
I don’t think that there’s anything that I used to enjoy eating that I wouldn’t enjoy now. There are things I wouldn’t eat now that I used to eat then, but that would be a health issue instead of a taste issue.
Heh. The bansidhes at Samhain are always good craic, my friend!
(Yesh, I’m a bit of a Celtophile, I admit. But most of the food is rather…boring. Awesome seafood in Cork, though! But no sardines for me!)
Really? Think of the kinds of candy you may have liked when you were a kid. When I think of the eye-wateringly tangy, brutally sweet goodies of my childhood (Pixie Stix, Jolly Ranchers, SweetTarts, etc.), they just sound gross to me, and it isn’t because of any aversion to simple carbs. I think you just develop a taste for subtler, more complex flavors as you get older. YMM obviously V.
I used to make little kebabs on toothpicks - sliced dill pickles and Kraft American cheese singles.
Yuk.
I was never much for candies like that in the first place.
When I was around age three and four, I used to really like beef liver for some reason (perhaps because I did not yet realize it’s an organ meat) and my mother served it quite often. However, she stopped for about ten years and the next time I ate liver, I could only stand about three bites of it before giving up. Even taking into account the realization I was eating a major organ, it now just tasted so foul to me.
Also, as a kid I used to like eating Franco-American and Chef Boyardee canned pasta. Then, I came down with a case of stomach flu not long after eating a can of cheese ravioli for lunch and you can probably guess what the first thing was to come up. Completely and permanently killed by appetite for the stuff.
O.k I’ll post mine as long as some one can assure me that DCFS (department of children and family services) can’t be called 30 years later.
My mom used to give us raw bacon. We would take a piece or 2 off the plate when she was making BLT’s and would dip it in French onion dip and eat raw. She thought it was cute. The ironic part was that we could never eat cookie dough from the spoon because it had a raw egg in it. :dubious:
Funny thing that.
OK, you’re the second one on this thread to seriously gross me out. You can get in line next to the marmite-on-graham-crackers guy.
Isn’t “raw” bacon smoked enough to kill bacteria?
I mean, “eeew”, but I don’t know if it’s actually dangerous.
I could write a book about how much my tastes have changed over the years. A few selections:[ul]
[li]2% Milk - I switched to skim when I was about 10 and never looked back. Now, anything more than 1% feels thick and slimy to me.[/li][li]Bananas - I used to love them, now, I can hardly stand the smell. I’ve hated the things for years and the fact that I had to feed a friend a banana through a pair of panty hose (don’t ask) doesn’t help matters. [/li][li]Green Peppers - As a kid, I used to snack on strips of green peppers that Mom had chopped for me. Now I can eat them if I have to, but would rather not.[/li][li]Sugar cookies - Used to like them, now I jsut don’t care for them.[/li][/ul]
I could probably think of more if I wasn’t so tired.

Dude. You can’t just drop something that tantalizing and then slam the door with “dont ask.” Now you’ve created ignorance in all of us, and are obliged to fight it.
When I was a kid, the ONLY way I’d eat a hot dog was cold and straight out of the package – no bun. The thought of doing so now, to quote my dear, departed mother, is enough to “puke a dog off a gut wagon.”
SPAM is foul.And butterscotch.
