This may sound a little strange, but beer. My parents said they couldn’t put down a beer without me picking it up and drinking it. I actually have pictures of me in diapers with a Bud in one hand. Now I can’t stand the taste of it. Also, I used to love American cheese slices, vienna sausages, and Castlebury’s brunswick stew. All loathsome to me now.
When I was little I LOVED popcorn shrimp. Ate it all the time. I used to pop the whole thing in my mouth. Then one day, I bit one in half and actually looked at what was under all that breading…it was PINK D: My little tummy flipped and flopped and I’ve never touched shrimp since. I have, however, traded it in for link breakfast sausages dipped in Jiffy peanut butter
YUM
Butter.
As in, when I was a little kid I used to just take a big bite from a stick of butter. Urgh, just the thought of that now is enough to turn my stomach.
(I love gefilte fish though! One of my favorite foods. That and sardines.
)
SPAM is chicken and butterscotch? Ewwww…
I loved liver and smelts as a kid, can’t eat them now.
I remembered something else; sugar sandwiches. When I was a kid I used to make sugar sandwiches - butter on white bread and sprinkled with sugar. The idea now doesn’t really gross me out but it does make my teeth hurt.
Borscht. Mom said I used to eat it like mad when I was a baby. Now looking at it makes me shiver. It smells disgusting up close.
Cabbage rolls. Apparently I used to love these too, but the smell of cooked cabbage makes me gag. Being Ukrainian, cabbage rolls are required at every family gathering, and I have to sidestep around them.
Yeah, I know, I’m a bad Ukrainian…I will eat perogies forever though!
