It makes no difference how you die. In the end, you’re still dead.
That was really profound, jab. wow.
I would willingly pay double for a Glock or Taurus just to see them back the feds down.
I can’t get past the flagrant hypocrisy of the executive branch breaching the law of the land they have sworn to uphold, for the unabashed purpose of imposing their views on the rest of us. They can’t do it legally, they’ve resorted to Mafia-like protection racket tactics.
Criminals.

Much like Hitler, they have resorted to means outside their legitimate powers.
Here you go CB,
Get one of these while you still can. After all the new laws go into effect, you and I will not be able to get one of these.
They are the #1 offender on Sarah Brady’s hit list.
Of course…you could always pick one up on the blackmarket after they ban them…

Here is an addendum to my previous “Jab you stupid fuck” post.

Freedom:
First warning. Remember that you are a guest here and we expect you to conduct yourself accordingly. Gratuitous abuse such as the following will not be tolerated. Further instances will be deleted and may result in your exclusion from the SDMB.
What?!
“Winners never quit and quitters never win, but those who never win and never quit are idiots.”
Well, as the original poster, and reading through all this mess, I have seen very few people that, given the OP, would trade a gun for a dog or a baseball bat…
That said, when it comes down to it, even you
gunbanners would use a gun if your kids were threatened.
My point is made.
Well, I did keep it in the pit.
I wasn’t aware that there were limits on the insults you could throw around in here.
But it is your board so you make the policy. I respect that. Just please note that I did not post like that anywhere but in the pit.
Ed Zotti: HUH? I don’t get it. Freedom has not used language any more inflammatory or abusive than other posters in The BBQ Pit. On the contrary, I have seen many posts much more provocative than those made by Freedom. What’s new that I may have missed? Is there a new standard I must observe? Help me out here, because I am truly puzzled.
Guns…the tool that makes ya cool…
Krispy Original - I survived the SDMB outage
I was also under the impression that this (the pit) WAS the proper forum for that kind of comment.
What gives? And I’m not clear on why Freedom was singled out for the reprimand. As was already stated, there have been much more insulting posts on this same thread, let alone others…

Mere Death is not Defeat.

Gents, Ed is simply enforcing the “don’t be a jerk” rule. The rule applies, even in the Pit. This is a forum for complaints and flames, but it isn’t necessarily a free-for-all. Admittedly, Ed has acknowleged (in another thread) that there has been a lot of leniency in the Pit–too much in the administration’s opinion.
IMO, we can get our opinions and scathing derision across without the “fuck yer momma” pseudoflames.

Your point, near as I can tell, is that if someone broke into my house and was threatening my family, I would wish that I had a gun. I won’t argue with that.
If I did have a gun in the house, and someone in my family accidentally shot him or herself or someone else with it, I would wish that I hadn’t had one.
While unbiased numbers are almost impossible to come by, I consider these two scenarios to be equally unlikely. (And don’t start in about “teaching your kids to respect your guns”; no one thinks it’s going to happen to their kid.) Therefore, I don’t feel any more or less safe with a gun in the house.
I don’t have a gun, mostly because I don’t really like guns. (Similarly, you may not have any guitars in your house because you don’t enjoy playing the guitar. I have several.) I would support any measure that would actually keep guns away from criminals and the unstable, but very few gun laws (least of all mandatory trigger locks) would have any such effect.
If that makes me an “anti-gun idiot”, so be it.

Ed,
Did somebody complain?
I’m just curious. I was a little surprised to see a warning in the Pit, especially since I have never seen a warning here.
As I said, it is your board, your rules. I just think it is a different interpretation of the rules in this case than in most cases.
Who knows, maybe you were having as bad a day as I was when I posted that flame
Freedom, please don’t think I’m speaking for Ed here, but the decision to crack down on some of the abusive behavior, here and in the other fora, was a side effect of the Melin affair. Seems the CR and SDMB administration are getting a leeetle jumpy lately, with good reason. I know of three people off the top of my head who have used legal action as a threat (none of them seriously except possibly Melin), just in the past couple months.
Enforcing the rules a little more closely might hopefully stave off any similarly depressing situations.

Ed Zotti: What is going on? I am surprised that you have not replied to my recent post. Have the rules for The BBQ Pit changed? Do you realize that you have effectively stifled further conversation in this thread? Please respond with your thoughts on new guidelines so that we may discuss them and agree on how to proceed.
In the “Melin Has Been Banned” thread, Ed wrote:
I replied,
That was not intended to be a complaint as I was not offended by Freedom’s rant. I knew he was just blowing off steam and did not truly wish harm on myself or my mother. (She’s still very much alive, BTW. She’s diabetic, though.)
Freedom and I actually have the same goals: A more peaceful society. We just disagree on the methods. He thinks it would be more peaceful with more guns and I think it would be more peaceful with fewer guns.
How many of theose countries where gun control was imposed were democracies like ours?
Feel free to correct me at any time. But don’t be surprised if I try to correct you.

Ralf, you asked Ed,
You’re kidding, right? Don’t you think it might be appropriate to limit some of the personal insults? I’ll not quote them all, but here’s a selection fron page 4 of this thread:
Geez, no, I don’t see anything wrong there. I guess we should all be allowed to repeatedly call anyone “stupid fucking prick,” since conversation obviously requires it, right?
