Think About This, You Anti-gun Idiots

Andros…

This is the Pit. Conversation is not really neccesary.

That being said, I realize my flame was a little harsh. Believing in self-moderation, I came back and posted a following post to try and soften up my stance a little bit.

Jab doesn’t seem to be too broken up about it, and I am not bothered by Ed’s stance, now that he has posted a rule change.

I think the comment about stifling further conversation was directed at the ambiguity of Ed’s post. It didn’t really fit with anything we have seen enforced in the Pit.

I don’t know about the others, but I had stayed away from the melin threads. So I had no idea they were trying to clean things up.

I appreciated other people speaking up and asking what was up. Sitting over here on this end of the computer, I was wondering if I was the only one who was a little surprised by the rebuke.

Jab,

Thanks for being soooo understanding  That kind of behavior is the standard for the pit.

I have enjoyed our back and forths for the last month or so, and I admit that you really pushed my buttons with your post about Glock.

People who were not involved in our debate over the last month don’t have the whole context or history.

By no means did I ever really want anything to happen to you or your mother. I wouldn’t wish that on Phadreaus.

I look forward to posting back and forth with you on this and other topics, and maybe one day, even finding something we agree on
The real joke to me is, that I have never felt I was able to deliver a flame even worth remembering, much less pissing off anyone on the other side.

So, in accordance with the new rules, I apologize, and promise to mend my wayward ways.

Freedom:

Go to your room.

“Buy a gun – piss off a liberal”

Which is what I meant: Strict gun crontrol is less likely to be imposed in a democracy than in a country where the form of government is un-democratic. Pre-Nazi Germany is the exception to the rule that only non-democracies ever degenerate into dictatorships. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think Germany did not have a free press even before the Nazis.

Jefferson was right when he said if he had to choose between government without newspapers or newspapers without government, he would not hesitate to choose the latter. Germany had the former (almost), and got Hitler as a result. The people did not really know whom they were electing.

Was Hitler elected by a majority or a plurality?

Feel free to correct me at any time. But don’t be surprised if I try to correct you.

I am new here but I feel that I have to tell my story. This is a very true and very scary story.

A few years ago, not long after I moved in my new house, I was involved in a shooting. It seems that there was an ongoing dispute over whether the road I live on was a public road or not. It turns out that it is actually a private road. It seems that some hunters had been using this road for some time to go to some land that was leased to them. This was not the only road that went to their leased hunting land. Because of some of the things that these hunters did, like hunting after dark, speeding up and down the road, and throwing beer cans out all along the road, the landowners decided to close the road. I would like to make it clear that I did not close the road and had nothing to do with this whole affair. I just live on the road and had never bothered any of these hunters.

On night, I was standing on my front porch and one of these hunters kept riding back and forth in front of my house. About the third time he drove by my house, he yelled “Bitch” at me. I yelled “Hey!” and he stopped in the middle of the road. He then proceeded to come into my yard with a rifle in his hand. I went into the house and got my shotgun and went back to the door. He turned around and got back into his truck and left. I called the police and they came out and made a report of this.

About an hour later, there was a knock at my door. I went to the door to answer it and there was a man on my front porch. He informed me that “someone was going to get killed over this road shit”. I told him that I had already called the police and that he should leave my house and not come back. As he was leaving, I noticed that there were 3 people in the truck. I then called the police again and also called my father. The policeman came out again to make another report.

About 30 minutes after that, I heard a truck pull up in my driveway. I went straight to the phone and called my father and then called the police. Two guys came to my front door and started beating on it. They were called me all kinds of vulgar names. Three more guys were at my back door beating on it. I stayed in the house until my father came. He pulled into my driveway and told them to get away from the house. They backed away from the doors and were talking about getting a gun out of the truck. My father shot his shotgun into the air and told them to stay away from my house. I got my 44 magnum and went out onto the front porch. One of the guys had a gun in his hand when I walked out on the porch and I heard my father tell him to put the gun down. The stupid guy started running towards me with the gun. I shot him in the leg. He is very lucky that I knew how to shoot a gun, otherwise, he would not still be walking around on this earth.

I was very scared the whole time this was going on but I knew how to use a gun and I kept my cool. This makes a big difference.

My whole point in this long story is that I had my son and one of his friends in my house and I defended them and myself. These guys were drunk and acting like idiots. The guy that I shot would not have been shot had he not been in my yard. I am personally glad that I had a gun. I was raised around guns and I never dreamed of trying to get my father’s guns. I knew better. I was taught better. As I said before, I have a son. He has a bb gun which he not not allowed to shoot unless he is supervised. He will be taught the correct way to use a gun.

I do not understand why some people are so quick to give up their right to own guns. I personally think that there are some good gun control laws on the books that should be enforced, but I do not believe that guns should be outlawed.

That’s a fascinating story, and I applaud you for having the courage to defend yourself in that manner and then talk about it in this forum. Sounds like you did exactly the right thing (except for the minor detail that I don’t personally favor shooting to wound. Too much trouble can come of it).

Congratulations on keeping your cool long enough to act reasonably, and on raising your kids to handle guns safely and responsibly.

If you say it, mean it. If you mean it, do it.
If you do it, live it. If you live it, say it.

Thank you so much for your comments. I was really a bit scared to post that, because it was my first post. I have been lurking forever…lol.

Believe me, I did have to go through some legal proceedings because of that incident, but I had the whole police force on my side, so everything was dropped. (I mean, they came to my house 3 times all within 3 hours!)BTW, all of the guys were charged with trespassing, disturbing the peace and the one that I shot was also charged with many gun charges.

Thanks again for being so nice! I may stay around for a while…hehe

That bit where a group of drunken pissed off people started harrassing you with them might be a bit of a hint.

You shot the guy in the leg with a .44 and he’s still walking around on this earth?

Damn, he’s is lucky.

See, if there were more responible gun owners around, gun control wouldn’t be an issue.

Oh well…
Wish in one hand and shit in the other…

“Winners never quit and quitters never win, but those who never win and never quit are idiots.”

Are you trying to say that they would not have a gun just because there is a law against them? Well now, let’s think about this. There are laws against trespassing and that didn’t seem to stop them. There are laws against creating a disturbance, but that didn’t seem to stop them either. There are also laws against threatening a person with a gun and that didn’t stop them from doing that either. Well, I guess a law doesn’t really stop a criminal now does it?

BTW, there are plenty of gun laws that are rarely enforced. I don’t see any need in passing any more that won’t be enforced either.

Also, I am very glad that I had my gun. I often wonder what would have happened had I not. Would my kids be growing up without their mommy right now? I don’t know the answer to that question because I had a gun and I knew how to defend myself and my children.

All gun owners are not drunken idiots that go around harrassing people. Your post makes absolutely no sense to me. I am not trying to be rude. I just don’t understand the logic in your statement.

Okayyyyyyyyy!!! I have no idea why my last post is there 4 times! Sorry about that!

OKAYYYYY!!! I have no idea why my last post is there 4 times?? That is so annoying! Sorry about that!

Can anyone tell me why my last post is there 4 times?? That is so annoying! Sorry about that!

You just posted exactly what I was thinking.

(except I only thought it once  )

Now my apology is there 3 times? Very strange! Last night, when I tried to post something, my computer just stopped and it didn’t seem to go through? I have no idea what was going on.

Anyway, maybe it is better today. I guess I am going to find out with this post…lol
