Barb and I enjoy the AFLAC duck – recognizing the potential for overdoing a gimmick and being annoying, the ad agency has been very creative in coming up with new ways to use him – and well-done ones. (I find the recent W.B.-produced one where it runs off a cliff and is saved by Wile E. Coyote to be one of the better moments in ad history. And the point – to produce something memorable enough that the name of that coinsurer firm is burnt into the American memory – certainly seems to have been accomplished.)
Though I’m sure the poor duck is getting hungry after all this time… perhaps we could feed it a nice gecko? 
And, remembering a story about a friendly rivalry and consequent upstaging competition between two childhood friends who both made it big in Hollywood, I’d love to see a CGI gimmick where Matt Damon is going up to receive an award, when suddenly across the stage comes this duck…

Let the Aflac duck live. He’s not so bad, really. Hell, I’d even let the Arby’s oven mitt go. What we should all do instead is go after those horrid-sounding, deranged rodents in the latest Quizno’s ad, one of the absolute worst abominations of a commercial EVER!

I like the duck. I especially like the somewhat bemused guy at the end of most of the commercials… the hot dog vendor, the guy outside making the snowman, etc.
