I saw a picture of Gilbert Gottfried with the head honchos of AFLAC when I went to a job interview with them last year!
One of the most bizarre moments of my adult life was when I suddenly realized I liked Gilbert Gottfried. I think he’s really funny. Yeah, it still strikes me as weird, too.
I’m not sure how anyone can NOT realize that it’s Gilbert Gottfried. No one else sounds like that…

Gilbert Gottfried… generally I dismiss him out of hand, but I caught him on TV one day blathering on, and then I hear him say “Here’s Jerry Seinfeld:” then he raises his eyebrows as high as they’ll go, puts on a kind of nasal-resonant voice, and said “Why do people wear… socks?” Laughed til I cried. Guess you had to be there.

Nah – once you get past how totally obnoxious the schtick is, there’s a very funny guy there. I used to watch Hollywood Squares basically just to watch him. He’s no Paul Lynde, of course…
I read somewhere that Gottfried does not do the duck in Japan. Japan is a very polite place, and they felt Gilbert’s duck was too rude for them.

twickster, there is a blooper reel of Gottfried on Hollywood Squares…he was the final square to win, and the contestents went back and forth something like NINE times before one of them answered correctly. It was hysterical.
Yeah, I saw that – on one of those "Funniest Game Show Moments"shows, I think. (And yet I maintain with a straight face that I watch hardly any TV any more.) Funny stuff.

It almost sounds like Bob Hoskins in that movie where he kind of kindnaps girls, but I don’t think it is.
I don’t know who does it now, but I’d swear that when the geico commercials first started, Kelsey Grammer did the voice. Whenever I see or hear the ads now, I can’t help but think that the voice isn’t right.
My guess would have been Andy Serkis. He probably animates the duck, too.
