Quick! Who's the voice of the duck in the AFLAC commericals? Don't Google-cheat!

We should probably spin off a thread on famous voices in commercials. Like, Kelsey Grammer for Disneyland.

Gilbert Gottfried.
He was listed in the credits of Lemony Snickets as the duck.

According to here:

http://tvadverts.blogspot.com/2005/10/geico-gecko.html

Kelsey Grammer did the voice for the first spot, but from then on out it was someone named Dave Kelly.

Yeah, I saw that too. I don’t know who that is but I love the voice.

There appear to be several Dave Kellys at IMDB. One is the old guy who was in “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and “Waking Ned Devine” but I don’t think it’s him. The voice is too youthful.

In reading Gilbert Gottfried’s wikipedia article I scrolled down to view the contents of the Aristocrat joke and have just now discovered what a Dirty Sanchez is.

Is it David Duchovny telling us Purina is “for dogs”? And Julia Roberts selling aol, another reason to dislike her.+

The Aristocrats is out on DVD today, BTW.

Yes! I was just about to post about David Duchovny. Every time I hear it, I feel a little sad about Mulder schilling for dog food. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

Interesting and relevant recent research item: New research reveals that television commercials featuring celebrity voice-overs are most influential when consumers can’t identify which actor it belongs to.

I’ve got one…this one I’m guessing at:

The radio ads for Netflix, where it’s a game show, “If six is brown and three is red, what is fourteen?” “Turquoise!” Then, “If you keep your Netflix videos for 97 years, how much will you pay in late fees?” “Nothing!” “Correct!!!”

Is that Zach Braff? It sounds like it at the end, but I can’t tell.

Oh, I dunno. I imagine hearing Sam Elliott’s voice on those “Beef; it’s what’s for dinner” commercials has helped stock a few fridges…

I’ve not read the thread – my guess is Gilbert Gottfried.

Perhaps I’ll post again after reading the thread?

I believe I learned that here many years ago.

You can learn a lot on dope.

My question is, has it *always *been Gottfried? The last time I heard an AFLAC commercial, I instantly heard it - there was no question about it. But the earlier AFLAC commercials never reminded me of Gottfried in the least…

It just doesn’t sound like Zach. (Slight hijack – are the Netflix audio commercials available online anywhere, legally, of course? I haven’t found them at Netflix.com, nor anywhere else. I love those things.)

And do I win anything for knowing about the duck?

IIRC in the first commercials the duck was just squawking the term “AFLACK” over and over. The more recent versions have a lot more voice characterization and intonations.

Well, he only got that job after James Garner had his heart attack.
“Beef. It’s what clogged up my arteries.”

The original voice of Home Depot was the neighbor Wilson from Home Improvements.

And Susan Sarandon is gently describing the virtues of Stouffer’s. (How can they have no preservatives?? Does that mean artificial preservatives, and they’ve upped the salt content?

I believe he got the job after Robert Mitchum died.
