I’ve pretty much stopped listening since they changed times on me on the local station – but I still get the weekly update. It seems like months since they’ve had a new episode – does anyone know what the deal is? I’d love to start making this a part of my weekly routine again.
The new shows seem like they’ve been alternating with re-runs, every other week. If you go to the website and look at the '04 archive (or any archive for that matter) you can view the shows from that year. Most of the shows are available online if you have RealPlayer.
The most recent episode that was run, which I haven’t heard yet, was a new one. Check out the website, you can find out when new shows are coming up, and it has a listing of which stations carry the show.
Thanks, Dignan – the generic descriptions of what what I guess have been new shows threw me off.
The problem isn’t my station dropping it – they moved it back an hour, which moved it from “Sunday morning” (doable) to “midday Sunday” (just doesn’t work as well). Thanks for the reminder about listening to it online – esp. if I can pick a time, that seems like my best solution.
Have you been through the entire archive? It’s worth the Real Player bother to listen. If you haven’t heard Squirrel Cop yet, go listen to it now. Literally. Right now. It still makes me laugh. You can search on the site for this:
First Day
11/13/98
Episode 115
Does anyone else have any favorites? Anything with David Sedaris is also on my favs list.
“Squirrel Cop” is a classic – I think it’s on the “Best Of” CD I got one year as my pledge gift. Also on that CD is the story about the amateur performance of Peter Pan that would get my vote for the funniest piece ever on that show.
The show about messages you weren’t meant to hear is awesome. It includes an audio tape of the Desert Storm “Highway of Death” incident, a recording made by a stutterer with the stuttering edited out, and The Funniest Answering Machine Message of All Time.
La Jolla, La Jolla… You AND the Little Mermaid… G’byeeeeeeeee."
If that doesn’t make any sense to you, listen to the show, and come back and re-read this post. You will laugh. You may cry. You might even wet yourself.
