Pretty fucked up:
Heard about that today on the band’s Facebook page. What a terribly tragic event for everyone who witnessed it.
Why would this make Swell Season rethink the effect their music is having? There doesn’t seem to be any evidence that Mike jumped to his death because of the music.
Does their music suck that much?
Just going for a catchy thread title. I don’t actually think their music had anything to do with it.
I take it Pickels didn’t fall slowly?
All the way down.
No, then he would have landed ***on ***them.
The artist in question (man/woman duo) seems to craft, based on their song titles, uplifting Irish folk music-hardly the kind of skull-shattering suicide-inspiring doom metal that I was expecting when I did a search on them.
Damn, you took my joke.
He really crashed that party.
I’ve never been convinced that sensory material we surround ourselves with has no effect on our mood or actions. It’s possible that depressed people seek out moody music but certainly in a state of self-destruction it can’t improve the situation.

Around 20 years ago I was listening to some extremely crappy New Age cassette tape of “world” music (yeah, I know). It was the most benign crap you can imagine.
I was asked by a 17 year old if I wasn’t worried that demons would take advantage of the opportunity to possess me.
Amazingly, I survived. Sometimes my head goes around in a full circle.
After reading this I’m glad “my music” is classic jazz. It hasn’t had any effect on anybody in decades.
