This has to stop: extreme actions at political gathering

Lovely.

…hey OP! Thank you for taking the time to return to the thread. Since you’ve been away have you been able to do any of the following:

[ul]
[li]Identify who took the video?[/li][li]Confirm the “affiliation” of the person is actually “antifa” or are they just a random person?[/li][li]Confirm where the video was taken?[/li][li]Confirm the video is of an actual event and not staged as either a prank or as propaganda?[/li][/ul]

It would be lovely if you could take the time to add more context to the OP. One wouldn’t like to think you deliberately posted fake news for the sake of creating controversy. Cheers in advance!

You’re the one who wished harm or death upon another poster.

We all know what “go play in traffic” means–you’re not fooling anyone.

You’re the one in this thread defending vehicular assault. And now you want people in the thread to “play in traffic.” You don’t get to pretend to have the moral high ground.

Funny this response doesn’t go to the guy who told people to go play in traffic…

I wasn’t trying to create controversy. You guys did a good job of that. I saw that happening early on, and things got pretty crazy. This was an MPSIMS thread and then it digressed pretty quickly and got moved to the pit.

I made my point in the OP, to let’s not go overboard. And then things… went overboard.

So you guys can go ahead and enjoy the controversy you’ve turned this into.

…yeah. Nah.

The OP, to be quite blunt, is a lie. We don’t know if they guy in the video was a member of the so-called “Antifa.” We don’t know when it happened, we don’t know where it happened, we no nothing about it at all. You didn’t make a point. You are simply repeating propaganda. You are propagating fake news.

This is literally how trolling works. You create drama, then step back and blame everyone else for what you did. At the very least you should take the credit for a pretty textbook troll.

:dubious: Well, you started your OP with a link to an extremely controversial right-wing media site and a paraphrase of the site’s gloating headline, “An Antifa guy tried blocking someone’s car, smacks the car with a bat or pipe. It did not end well for him.” And even the nature of the incident allegedly being documented in the video is controversial, in that apparently neither you, nor your cite, nor anybody else has managed to come up with any other information about this alleged incident. You didn’t see the obviously controversial nature of this material as a topic for a thread? Really?

But you don’t seem to consider that “going overboard” includes driving a vehicle into protestors blocking roads, or beating people up.

If you seriously thought that your highly selective view on which of the actions in your linked video qualify as “going overboard” isn’t controversial, well, that seems pretty naive. If, on the other hand, you were thinking that you’d plausibly be able to blame the reaction to your controversial OP on someone else, well, nice try.

Hmm. Ninja’d.

Not to answer for him, but “Nuh-uh. Tribes are bad.”

I’ve been here for twenty years. You’ve been here for longer than ten.

Sartre’s been dead for even longer than either of us have been here.

WHY AM I ONLY LEARNING ABOUT THIS QUOTE NOW?

Try a hell of a lot harder next time then.

It’s been making the rounds since someone posted it on Twitter with reference to the current alt-right about 3 years ago.

My bad then, I guess.

To Kobal2: Sorry for assuming that you might have been sitting on it, Frenchie.

No worries :).
For what it’s worth, the whole book is worth a read IMO as I find it’s a particularly precise, well thought-out (and savage) take on bad-faith discourse in general, and the far-right as well. Plus, contrary to a **lot **of what Sartre wrote elsewhere, for the most part here you don’t have to dissect each Gordian knotty phrase to try and suss out what in *hell *he’s talking about :p.

Oh, I realize I haven’t even named the book in question - it’s Anti-semite and Jew

Cite? It’s your ilk that is so happy with violence against your political opponents. The reality is so lop-sided, you gorillas have to go to Redstate.Com just to find a “antifa” pedestrian “attacking” a car — that was at fault — with his bare hand. The irony! The imbecility!

If it was a Trump-licker or a neo-Nazi slapping a car offensively driven by a rational-thinking American there’s no doubt you’d be whining and whingeing from the opposite tree.

If you weren’t, then why did you avoid answering the questions that would lead people to believe that? Or, if you couldn’t, admit that you made a mistake?

Your post has been shown to be fake. You picked a bad source. You even admit that you saw that it had been taken off of Facebook, meaning that the person who posted it realized it was likely fake.

This entire “controversial” thread exists because of you spreading fake information. If you don’t apologize, then why shouldn’t we assume it was intentional?

Help me out, here: is that whataboutism, or hypothetical whataboutism?

It’s an educated guess.

Gorillas? Good thing you maintain a spreadsheet of ethnicities.

Stay out of the road if you don’t want consequences.

Stay out of The BBQ Pit if you don’t want consequences, hypocrite.
