This is a long thread. Click here to review it.

If we do that, do we add to the view count? If so, doesn’t that stress the server even more? If so, should we still have that option, or should we delete it? It seems to me it’s useful only to those who don’t use Quote and it seems to me like it ought to be obvious that if you want to quote someone, you would use Quote.

Not obvious if you intend to quote more than one person jab1. I tend not to use the quote button but rather add the tags myself. If it’s a long thread and I won’t get to see the posts I want to quote, I open the reply window in a new window by right clicking it. I guess there are lotrs of different ways of doing it.

The only people taxing the server with it are those that use it. Presumably, they see some reason to do so, so getting rid of it would remove functionality for them.

It was my understanding that repeated viewings of the same thread does not add to the View Count, as the software remembers that your computer’s IP number already looked at that page.

DDG, I just tried that on a long thread. I clicked on “click here to view” on the reply page, then refreshed the thread list page. The number of views for that thread went up by one every time.
