This is sad, I know

I own and operate a webpage, but I can’t seem to figure out how to improve its visability. It’s nothing big…just a low-rent Angelfire retrospective on that glorious show of shows, “Homicide: Life on the Street.” Like I said…it’s kinda stripped down, only cuz I know little of computer programming, etc. However, I would imagine that a fan would appreciate my approach, and would perhaps go there repeatedly…if only they knew. I tried submitting it to Yahoo!, but since I haven’t heard anything, I’m guessing they rejected it. Also performed some task at the Angelfire page that supposedly sent the URL to 20 search engines or so, but I noticed no increase in traffic. Maybe I just suck.

Can anybody help me…someone with more Net savvy, perhaps. How does one go about getting their site noticed?

Okay, first off: GREAT taste in shows!!! Woohoo! Another Homicide fan!

Moving on. Is there a webring for the show? If so, submit your site. There also might be a page which is a collection of pages for the show. I know there’s a few of those for other TV shows, and it makes sense there would be one for Homicide. I can do some searching and get back to you if you want.

My best advice? First, find out if there is a webring for Homicide pages and join it. Second, find other Homicide fan pages that have a list of links to Homicide pages and give your URL to any that request people to submit URLs (offer to provide a link back from your page in return).

You should be able to find one or both by doing a websearch (if you don’t find info on a webring during a websearch, you’ll probably find it on one or more of the webpages you find, if it exists).

a) If Yahoo rejected you, submit it again. If they reject you again, submit it again.

b) Apply that vein to other search engines.

c) Look to other sites with similar interests. Email them asking them to put a link to your site. Offer adding a link to theirs on yours. If they reject you, see #a above.

d) Investigate webrings as suggested above by Falcon.

(and Kat). Simulpost.

Thanks, all. Actually, my page is listed at Homicide: Links on the Sites, but with the show cancelled, and the link to my page WAY down on the list, I don’t think many are seeing it. I also tried to attract the attention of the webring folks…but no response from them as well. I’m not sure if anyone’s keeping that up anymore. I received an email from them requesting that I post some HTML code on my page that would direct visitors towards the Web Ring. The email stated that I would be added just so long as I followed these directions. I did, but never heard from 'em. I suppose I could try pestering Yahoo!.

Hey, Falcon…glad to hear you’re a fan, too. I’m still in mourning. Hey, go there. Tell me what you think.
