THIS is the real, true, massive problem with Trump

Indeed, hence;

The 37% are a personality cult. They’re not going to waver based on trump breaking a promise or making a bad decision the way supporters of most politicians would

When I saw this thread’s title I expected to see this:

He has those cabinet meetings when they just heap praise on him while he sits bored with his arms crossed and his eyes closed. Those assholes are propping him up for their own ends. His whole administration has been specifically comprised of amoral sycophants.

Trump has at least an average IQ, most likely even a bit higher than that. I’d peg him around 115.

What he lacks is not intelligence, it is curiosity, empathy and whatever the opposite of hubris is.

I guess I should fast a bit, but after that I’m having a beer.

T is not just a narcissistic person. He’s a moron. Maybe a 7th grade education. He’s a bully and an asshole. Those are his ‘qualities’.

Who is “everyone”?

Humility?

Of course Trump would claim that “I am the most humilitious[1] person who ever existed. Not even close. I am the best at humility.”

[1] I’m not sure Trump can make the connection between the word “humility” and the word “humble”

No, the problem with Trump is absolutely not Democrats. Yes, Democrats could’ve done a better job opposing him, but no, it’s absolutely not appropriate to blame the victim for not resisting the abuser exactly the right way.

The problem with Trump is Trump and his supporters, full stop.

Bingo

He’s got all the hallmarks of someone who’s never had to strive for much of anything, and never had to face any meaningful consequences for his actions. He just does what he wants; the hamberders keep showing up, and nobody tells him no. That’s a recipe for incuriosity, a lack of empathy, and a whole lot of hubris, because those things are learned and reinforced through the experiences I mentioned above.

One of the best signs of Trump thinking he can “order or wish his way out of a problem” was when, after his strike on Iran, he went on social media to demand everyone, “KEEP GASOLINE PRICES LOW! YOU’RE PLAYING INTO THE HANDS OF THE ENEMY! I”M WATCHING YOU!”

My own children, especially my son, are wildly curious. It is hard for me to keep up with them.

The implication actually gives me a modicom of sympathy for Trump. He cannot have had a happy childhood.

This.
It still blows my mind that one human could support him, let alone about a hundred million. A hundred million!

Yeah but this is a guy who thinks drinking bleach or exposure sunlight can cure covid. Theres something deeply stupid about him. He doesn’t grasp the 4th grade knowledge behind the basic science of these concepts.

However Trump is a genius at marketing. He is a failed nepobaby who markets himself as self made. He took over the entire GOP and won the presidency twice. He is amazing at marketing. He just isn’t intelligent.

Narcissistic personality disorder tends to happen when a child is abused, neglected, shamed and invalidated so much that they have to build a false self to hide from how horrible and worthless they feel. That is why Trump gets so over sensitive to any criticism, because criticism forces him to feel how worthless he feels deep inside.

Trump’s father Fred Trump was a sociopath and Donald’s older brother drank himself to death. So yeah, severe childhood trauma.

If Fred Trump hadn’t been evil, the world would be a less bad place because Donald wouldn’t be evil either.

Based on reading a few biographies:

He claimed to like military school and sometimes was treated better than the norm for coming from such a rich family. But he was sent away to military boarding school for bad behavior. There’s no way to spin that as happy.

And he was a sick bully there.

Yep!

Roughly 1/4-1/3 of the population everywhere support an authoritarian leader.

Afd in Germany, le Pen in France, PISS in Poland, Putin in Russia, Bolsenaro, Orban, Erdogan, Trump.

They are just a fact of life.

The trick is to organize the other 3/4 so that they (the authoritarian fraction) don’t matter. They are a minority everywhere. The problems start when the “good” guys run too mediocre candidates that are too deep in the pockets of their sponsors. You need to make clear that there is a marked difference between the authoritarian side and your guy. Something Hillary and Harris couldn’t. (Hillary always was Wallstreet’s woman and Harris climbed on stage with Cheney).

You are berating me because I am telling the dripping wet people they should have brought an umbrella.

I’m not berating you in the slightest. I pointed out that your analysis is unserious and unsound.

Yes, we’ve all heard it all before, the very touching concern about what the Dems need to do to “earn your vote”. I don’t even know what to say to someone who trots out the unserious fluff line that Harris was in bed with Cheney simply because Cheney made a point of rejecting the authoritarian. It’s just a fundamental failure of analysis, or some unnamed axe being ground (Jill Stein voters, hello).
